OUYA starter guide: apps and gear you’ll want on day 1

In case you haven't been following along lately, the OUYA Android-powered game console will be arriving in stores soon. The OUYA console raised more than $8.5 million on Kickstarter and has been extremely popular and in demand from eager gamers. Today we learned that retail stores like Best Buy, Target, and more will have them in stores for $99 starting in June. So come June what will you want and need to be ready to game? OUYA game console will be in retail stores this June

The OUYA game console is going to soon be available in retail stores. The consoles are expected to land with several retailers including some brick-and-mortar and some on the web. The list of stores looks to include Gamestop, Best Buy and Target as well as Amazon. The OUYA should be available with these retailers beginning in June, and pre-orders are already available with several of them.

OUYA console April deliveries close to selling out

If you are still considering the purchase of an OUYA game console, you may want to make that purchase sooner rather than later. Or more specifically, make that purchase before Monday, February 4, 2013. The details are coming by way of a recent status update from OUYA and note that if you don't place your order before then -- you will not have your console in April.

OUYA game jam results in 166 prototypes in 10 days

OUYA will be launching shortly, and one of the biggest challenges the Android console faces in 2013 is support. The idea is great, but if developers don't support it, the console may not take off. OUYA, along with Kill Screen, hosted a game jam event called CREATE a few weeks back, inviting developers to make all sorts of game prototypes over the course of 10 days. At the end of it all, the OUYA team had 166 prototypes on their hands.

For starters, we found out that the Samsung Galaxy S IV might be more similar to the Galaxy Note than its predecessors, and it might even be coming as early as April. Developer SDKs for OUYA became available today, along with an unboxing and uncasing video from the company behind the little Android console that turned into a Kickstarter darling. Apple has agreed to drop the Galaxy S III Mini from its patent suit, while Samsung may need to pay a $15 billion fine for trying to get Apple products banned in Europe.

OUYA Developer kits shipping today, could arrive tomorrow

The highly anticipated open-source game console OUYA developer kits are shipping sooner than expected, and today we've learned some lucky developers could be receiving theirs as soon as tomorrow. According to our good pals at SlashGear instead of the developer consoles shipping tomorrow, they've already sent many out and they'll be arriving all weekend long.
