OPPO N1 arrives for those in China

OPPO has officially launched the N1 smartphone for those in China. The OPPO N1 was originally introduced back in September and more recently we learned the CyanogenMod model will begin shipping in December. And while the CyanogenMod model was expected to be available in limited quantities, it looks like the same can be said about the regular model in China.

OPPO N1 CyanogenMod Edition will ship internationally in December

OPPO announced the N1 smartphone back in September. That announcement ended a series of rumors, however it didn't answer every question that needed answering. For example, OPPO talked about a regular model N1 and also a limited CyanogenMod edition. Well, it looks like OPPO has since returned with some of those answers. To begin with, both versions of the handset will be available from December.

OPPO N1 international rollout getting underway

Following a series of rumors and teasers, OPPO unveiled the N1 smartphone back in late-September. At the time the handset was announced for China with the promise of additional markets later in the year. There was mention of the global rollout beginning in December, however the specifics remained a mystery. Well, it looks like the global rollout is beginning.

OPPO N1 pioneer program now accepting applicants

The OPPO N1 was announced back in September and while the availability is expected to begin in early-December, it looks like some lucky users may be able to get their hands on one a bit ahead of schedule. OPPO has launched a 'pioneer' program and will be offering the N1 to a select group of users. Those users will be able to purchase the handset at a discounted price, however they will need to do some work after the N1 arrives in their hands.

OPPO phone to use DigitalOptics MEMS camera, not Nexus 5

Reports earlier in the month suggested the Nexus 5 would arrive with a MEMS camera and Lytro-like features. That report was later debunked and things settled in with details about how the Nexus 5 would have a Sony IMX179 sensor. Specifically, an 8 megapixel camera. But just in case there was any doubt left, the folks at DigitalOptics Corporation have shared some news this morning.

Steve Kondik of Cyanogen Inc. speaks to SlashGear about OPPO partnership

In making the move to an upright, wholly legitimate organization, Cyanogen was intent on having a strong hardware partner. They needed an avenue to showcase their OS, and get it into the hands of the masses without the bother of rooting and flashing a ROM. Steve Kondik and his team eventually found their way to Oppo with the N1, and tells SlashGear they couldn’t be happier.

Samsung, Huawei, others form MobileBench benchmarking consortium

Benchmarks are the bread and butter not just of device reviews, but more importantly of fine-tuning and analyzing hardware performance to deliver the best user experience. It is no wonder, then, that device manufacturers are interested in creating benchmarking tools that will enable developers to more properly gauge the device and the platform, and to that end the MobileBench consortium was born.

OPPO N1 official with rotating 13 megapixel camera

As we had been expecting, the OPPO N1 has been officially announced. There is some time before the handset will be available for purchase, however OPPO has offered a full set of specs -- including details on how the handset will be the first to ship with CyanogenMod preinstalled. First things first though, the specs and the breakdown of the different models and availability.

Cyanogen conversation leak tips OPPO N1 with dual-boot option

Steve Kondik of Cyanogen appeared earlier today in the latest OPPO teaser video. These teasers are all leading up to the September 23rd announcement for the OPPO N1 smartphone. Anyway, given the combination of news from earlier in the week about Cyanogen forming into a company and looking for hardware partner and the earlier video from Kondik -- it was seeming likely that the N1 and CyanogenMod were going to be connected in some way.
