NOOK HD update delivers Google Play Store and all its content
Tonight we have some excellent news to announce from the folks at Barnes & Noble. Just like Amazon, they took the approach of launching Android tablets with their own Nook Store for apps, but today they've changed their tune. Starting today, users will be receiving full access to the Google Play Store on the NOOK HD, and HD+ tablets. Now that $199 slate finally will have everything the others do.

Some news for those who like in-app purchases and also happen to be using a NOOK. Barnes & Noble has announced the upcoming availability of in-app purchasing. This support is said to be coming "soon." More specifically, Barnes & Noble has said that "thousands of the most-requested games and apps featuring in-app purchasing" will be available in the coming weeks and months.

The popular Barnes & Noble NOOK Color tablet has been around for some time. It has seen its fair share of update from B&N specifically, but they've basically stopped any sort of support. While the device runs on Android we've seen various ROM's and development for the slate, and now Android 4.2 has arrived (and beat most tablets) thanks to those hard working developers.

Barnes & Noble warns investors of lower than expected revenues
Barnes & Noble has both announced the date when they would be releasing their third quarter earnings for fiscal year 2013 and also offered a warning for investors. According to details coming from the Barnes & Noble issued statement, the third quarter earnings results would arrive before the market opens on February 28. In addition to the earnings report, the company will also have an investor conference call that same day.

The Nook Tablet is no stranger to CyanogenMod. In the past we have seen builds for the tablet, and as of today we have word of an unofficial CM10.1 build for the Nook. And for those of you who have stuck with the stock ROM and are now ready to make the jump to custom ROMs -- as you will be going from Gingerbread to Jelly Bean, this will be a big jump. Barnes & Noble has officially kicked off their latest promotion surrounding the Nook. Except, this promotion is one that will benefit others, as opposed to yourself. Simply put, if you buy a Nook, Barnes & Noble will give a book. The promotion is called “Buy a NOOK, We’ll Give a Book” and the key here is who will be getting the book.

Barnes & Noble first announced Nook Video back in September and as we often see with new video offerings, the availability was limited to select markets. In the case of Nook Video, this was made available for those in the US with the promise of UK availability coming before Christmas.

Barnes & Noble reports huge increase in Nook sales over Thanksgiving weekend
Amazon is not the only company seeing a huge increase in sales over the craziest shopping weekend of the year. In fact, Barnes & Noble is reporting that it sold double the amount of NOOK units over the Thanksgiving weekend. B&N says that NOOK sales "doubled over the four-day Black Friday weekend, across all channels, based on information provided by our channel partners on a sell-through basis compared to the similar period last year.”

Nook Android app updated with UK support and new languages
The popular Barnes & Noble NOOK app for Android has been updated this week with tons of improvements. Hot off the release of their new NOOK HD and HD+ tablets their apps are now going to support multiple new languages, as well as full support for the UK. The app also works with many new iDevices but we'll talk about Android here since that's all that matters.
