Nike+ brings in more partners to improve fitness platform

Nike's Fuelband, which was their first attempt at an actual wearable, didn't exactly light the fire under runners' shoes, but it was a good experiment for the shoe-turned-fitness-advocate brand. It may have showed them that instead of focusing on hardware, their customers might be best served if they focus on developing software and then leverage off actual fitness wearable partners that have more experience than them in this arena. Hence, we now have the updated Nike+ app and the addition of support for other fitness devices.

Nike finally outs Golf 360 app for Android

Into playing golf? I still don't understand the game but I've got much respect for those who do play and excel in it. I know it can be difficult but it's really not for me. And for those who still want to improve their golf game, there's the Nike Golf 360 app to help motivate you and provide all the help you need. The app has been out on iOS but it's only now Nike has released it for Android. The app is not new. In fact, it's been on the App Store for two years so we're wondering why it took Nike that long to bring the Nike Golf 360 to Android.

The two have come together to bring the app directly to the Gear S, a smart wearable device that can be worn untethered to a smartphone because of its own 3G connectivity.

Nike launches Fuelband App on Android

Despite the fact that sports giant Nike seemed cozier with Apple and its iOS devices, they released this week an Android version of the app for their smart band. The Nike+ FuelBand app lets users of the FuelBand SE connect their gear with their mobile phone of choice in order to monitor their progress with their health and fitness goals.

With Google’s purchase of Nest, many speculated that the division could morph into Google’s internal hardware branch. While the company focussed on connected home products, it was widely believed Google was trying to alleviate their reliance on hardware partners like LG or Samsung. News that Nest is interested in the team behind the newly defunct Nike Fuelband heightens that speculation.
