Nexus S Android 2.3.2 System Update Pushing Now (SMS Bug Fix? UPDATE: Yes!)
Some folks are reporting over at XDA that an update to Nexus S is pushing now, one that brings the system up to version 2.3.2. This version, as it says it contains important bug fixes, we expect is the SMS bug fix everyone's been waiting for. No more random recipients for you!

Android Community Daily Wrap Up: January 20 2011
Wacky day, wacky day. Today was full of apologies, hints at the future, and olive branches offered at the brink of all-out Android war. Take peeks at the oncoming wave of superphones coming out more than likely in the middle of next month at Mobile World Congress, see the phones that never will be (Sony much?), and get some sassy updates for the phones you've already got. A couple of Froyos if I remember right. Oh and the CEO of Google is stepping down. No big deal!

Google Forcing Manufacturers to Hold Gingerbread Until May to Sell More Nexus S?
We've been handed a tip just now that might ruffle your feathers a bit if you're amongst the thousands of rabid Android fans waiting with your fingers dug into your knees for an update of your phone to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. A source familiar with the matter has told us that Google, our everloving king keeper of the Android, is forcing manufacturers to hold back the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread on ALL handset models until April or even May so that they can sell more Nexus S.

SMS Bug Fix for Nexus S Coming Soon
When the SMS bug for many Android devices was discovered, the internet went crazy. Texts were being sent to wrong people, and, if anything, it was a huge annoyance. Now users are getting a bit of a relief with Samsung announcing that the OTA fix will be coming soon.

Android Community Daily Wrap Up: January 19 2011
There's fire in our collective hearts as a rogue Motorola representative tells the Android developer community to buy elsewhere. We get all happy again though as there's a sweet little animation featuring nothing less than an Android Exploding an Apple Logo, then a video of a Nexus S equipped man getting crushed by a vending machine, and we get a super cute little Android Chinese God of Wealth in the mail. Rally against the rules as Kongregate and their 300 free games deal is dashed by Google, then wait at the door expectantly as Bejeweled 2 comes this week, Plants vs. Zombies and Peggle come this Summer, and Nexus One receives Gingerbread SOON - they swear!

Nexus S Equipped Man Trapped Under Vending Machine for Days
It's unclear whether the following series is actually officially affiliated with Google or if it's a fun project done by a fan, but what is clear is that these ad spots are awesome and hilarious. This series follows the epic journey of a man who gets caught underneath a vending machine at the office he works at and has to continue working as Assistant Regional Manager despite the fact that he remains stuck under the machine the entire series of five videos, and he wants to be called El Vendor! Where does Android come in?

LG Pecan to be NFC Phone Launched at Mobile World Congress 2011
Two Korean publications, PlusNews and Etnews are suggesting that LG is planning to release a $200 (USD) mass market phone that's got built-in NFC (Near Field Communication) capabilities and goes by the name of LG Pecan. Cute! A strange turn in both stories is that this phone will be running Android 2.2, which, as you know, does not include native support for NFC. On the other hand, both publications say they do have a direct line to LG - which I don't think is too far out of reality to be true, so let's listen in!

German Android 2.4 Nexus S Phone [Developments]
Last night we gave you a bit of a news bit that had to do with both an FCC filing and a video that showed a German fellow holding a phone that appeared to be a Nexus S device running Android 2.4 (this video and FCC filing are in the gallery below, or you can take a [click back] to that post if you'd like as well.) Now what we see today, courtesy of MobiFlip, is a closeup picture of a screen of a German language based phone that again says its Nexus S phone and is running Android 2.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich.)

Samsung GT-i9023, Possible Nexus S with Android 2.4, Hits FCC
What in the world is going on here? The story goes - and note we're sort of reciting what Engadget's got on their mind before I give you a whiff of what we're thinking - that this Samsung GT-i9023 (keep that number in mind) which is passing the FCC with AWS 3G (T-Mobile's band), is the same phone that a weirdo group of German homies BestBoyZ were holding in a video that was also running Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich since the baseband version on the About screen is yes, you guessed it, i9023.

MeeGo on Nexus S video demo
The MeeGo on Nexus S project continues, with the dim screen brightness of the first build now tweaked for a far more usable level, and a video demo of GLXGEARS and the Fennec mobile browser in action released. Developer Steve Troughton-Smith has been working his magic ironing out the bugs, forcing the screen to run at full brightness so the MeeGo install is at least visible while you're using it. As Steve himself says, it's all looking a little jaundiced at the moment; that seems to be a gamma issue. Still, with Nokia's own MeeGo device still some way off on the horizon, we'll take what we can get. [youtube Q0OMdJDjUA4]
