Nexus 5 camera prowess showcased on Google+

After an excruciatingly long series of rumors and leaks, the day has finally come and the Nexus 5 has officially landed. But while the smartphone touts specs that, by now, sound a wee bit common among high-end Android smartphones, one piece of its hardware, its camera, deserves a special mention.

Android 4.4 and the Nexus 5: a recap of the day’s event

After all the leaks, pictures, bluffs and fibs, Android 4.4 and the Nexus 5 are official. Released via the Google blog, the Android scene quickly ramped into an all-out frenzy over the newest flagship device and Android iteration from Google. With so much to take in, let’s recap the days events as they relate to all things Google.

Nexus 5 orders begin shipping hours after launch

Standing in almost pointed difference from the debacle last year, the Play Store has handled the crush of Nexus 5 orders remarkably well. Thought the device sold out in about 30 minutes, some orders have started going out already! That’s right, orders which we’re placed mere hours ago have begun leaving the Play Store warehouse, bound for destinations unknown (to us).

Nexus 5: 16GB inventory runs dry while 32GB ship date slips

Google quietly unveiled the Nexus 5 a short while ago and it looks like the inventory is being snatched up quickly. A quick check of the Play Store listing for the Nexus 5 now has the 16GB models showing as being out of stock. The 32GB model remains in stock, but given a slip in the shipping date -- we aren't sure how much longer that will last.

T-Mobile Nexus 5 will arrive in the “coming weeks”

The official word from Google was that the Nexus 5 would be available from the Play Store today and arriving with other retailers soon. The Play Store has the handset priced at $349 and $399 for the 16GB and 32GB models respectively, however we are expecting to see some changes once it arrives with the carriers. For example, T-Mobile will have it available using the JUMP! program.

Nexus 5 bumper case and LG QuickCover detailed

A few accessories landed in the Play Store along with the Nexus 5. There are two case options. The first is a flip cover and the second is a bumper case. The catch is, while both options are listed in the Play Store at the moment -- they are all still shown as coming soon.

Nexus 5 gets an official unveil

With a quiet refresh of the Google Play Store, the devices page has added a banner introducing the Nexus 5. Given the lengthy stream of rumors and leaks, most of these details will be of little surprise. That being said, the Nexus 5 is now official and those who had been waiting -- will be able to move forward with a purchase.
