LG Nexus 5 prototype currently in testing phase

The waters are starting to get a little murky regarding Google's plans for the next true Nexus. We're not talking HTC One or GALAXY S 4 'Google Editions' but a true Nexus smartphone. Obviously they are hard at work with Motorola on the X, as confirmed last night, and even today confirmed the Nexus program is still fully under way. So what will we see next, and will it be the LG Nexus 5?

LG denies Nexus 5 involvement but confirms Android tablet for 2013

LG will not be making the "Nexus 5" for Google, one company executive has claimed, with the South Korean firm supposedly looking to in fact reduce its dependency on Android moving forward. LG Nexus 4 with LTE and Key Lime Pie rumored for Google I/O

We all know the folks from Google have pretty big plans for their upcoming I/O developer event in May, but what exactly will we be seeing is still anyone's guess. We've heard and reported countless rumors but today another has appeared that takes the cake. Apparently Google will be dropping a new LG Nexus 4 (not a 5) with 32GB of storage and full support for 4G LTE. It will run Android Key Lime Pie and be revealed at Google I/O.

Dear Google: please make the HTC Nexus 5

I have a confession to make. The HTC Nexus One is still one of my favorite devices. Sure, multi-touch was a mess and Eclair was a work in progress, but I loved it. Fast forward a few years and Android has evolved, Samsung is a powerhouse, and HTC is struggling to keep their head above water. The Nexus 4 has arrived from LG, we all know what the GALAXY S 4 is about, and now everyone is focused on Motorola. That being said, I want an HTC Nexus 5.

HTC DROID DNA should’ve been the Nexus 5

Google's Nexus line is known for pushing the cutting edge and helping the evolution of Android along. Earlier this week Google's brand new LG Nexus 4 finally went up for sale. While we aren't here to talk about the lack of stock, or the immediate sold out status, we do want to mention what should've been. It should have been the HTC Nexus 5 or the HTC Nexus DNA. With a beautiful 5-inch 1080p HD display and a quad-core processor if any phone deserved the Nexus branding, the HTC DROID DNA was it.

HTC Nexus 5 rumors skip over LG

We've been hearing a lot lately about what we might see from Google as the next Nexus smartphone. With the 1 year anniversary of the Galaxy Nexus fast approaching many are anticipating another Nexus will arrive shortly. The LG Nexus 4 has been in the news plenty with rumors stating a late October announcement -- but now we're hearing the HTC Nexus 5 name again.
