Nexus 5 with early KitKat build featured in video from France

Depending on who you ask or which rumor you believe, we're just a few hours or days away from Google's big reveal of Android 4.4 KitKat and the new Nexus 5 smartphone. But even at the last minute we're still getting some insider peeks at Google's upcoming products, this time courtesy of a video from France showcasing what appears to be an early build of both the smartphone and the software.

Nexus 5 spotted in Bluetooth SIG filing

Still no official word from Google on when we can expect the Nexus 5 to arrive, however it looks like things are progressing as expected. We have already seen the handset appear in an FCC filing and more recently, it looks like the Nexus 5 has made an appearance with the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). The filing shows the model listed as being the LG-D821 and as we often see here, there wasn't much revealed in terms of specifics.

Nexus 5 case teased by Spigen

As we await the Nexus 5 launch, Spigen has teased us with a sleek case for the upcoming device. With no further commentary on a launch date or availability, the Google+ posting showed only the top portion of the device and case.

OPPO phone to use DigitalOptics MEMS camera, not Nexus 5

Reports earlier in the month suggested the Nexus 5 would arrive with a MEMS camera and Lytro-like features. That report was later debunked and things settled in with details about how the Nexus 5 would have a Sony IMX179 sensor. Specifically, an 8 megapixel camera. But just in case there was any doubt left, the folks at DigitalOptics Corporation have shared some news this morning.

Nexus 5 release date, pricing listed on Japanese site

Japanese retailer Gekko & Co. may have tipped Google’s cap for them, inadvertently releasing pricing and availability info for the Nexus 5. They note a “booking start time”, which we’ll take as a preorder date, of today. They also note the availability of the device is November 14th, but that may not be for worldwide launch.

As the expected announcement draws ever closer, we are getting more and more information that helps paint a better picture of what may possibly be the Google Nexus 5. Now, courtesy of a leaked internal service manual, we're getting a peek at the hardware specs of Google's next Nexus smartphone that is now believed to be coming from LG.

Android falls, iOS gains, according to latest comScore poll

In the wake of their double-device launch, Apple has achieved a market share of 40% among all OEMs. Their iOS is also gaining ground while Android falters slightly in regard to overall adoption, according to comScore. The research also noted that 145 million Americans owned smartphones, which they attribute as 60.8% of the eligible population. That’s a jump of 3% since May of this year.
