Verizon expands “C.O.W.” making 4G LTE network portable

Verizon Wireless today has proudly announced that they soon will be driving around cows. Actually today they delivered the company’s first 4G LTE C.O.W. (Cell On Wheels) in Florida to bring the joy of reinforced high-speed wireless capabilities to its customers. What we have here is a new system kicking off in Florida where major sporting or media events, tourist destinations, and other heavily populated areas will get extra support to the 4G LTE network when needed. This is a great system for natural disasters and hurricanes when most service eventually goes down.

Google goes MVNO in Spain with SIM cards for workers [Update]

Google has announced that it is in operation in Spain as a MVNO or mobile virtual network operator. Google bought up a bunch of bulk network capacity from existing carriers and then handed the SIMs out to employees for testing. That testing was down with the Nexus S handset and apparently each of the cards accesses one of three various carriers including Orange, Movistar, and Vodafone.

Verizon 4G LTE keeps getting stronger, 21 new markets coming in October

We've said AT&T has their work cut out for them regarding 4G LTE a few times and this is just one more confirmation that it's true. Verizon is showing zero signs of slowing down their impressive roll-out of 4G LTE. They have been steadily adding 15-25 new markets every month or so since their LTE networks first launched and they seem to be continuing the extremely fast pace of integration.

AT&T 4G LTE Network in the wild September 18th

We've heard plenty about AT&T's 4G LTE market and seen plenty of leaked phones for it too, now it seems they are finally making it official and will be launching their 4G LTE next-gen wireless network starting September 18th. They've already launched their first 4G LTE tablet the HTC Jetstream so whoever bought it might finally have 4G coverage soon, although only in a few markets at first.

Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Rolling to more cities coming September 15th

While Verizon just got done flipping the switch and adding 15 more cities to 4G LTE on the 18th of August, it appears they aren't looking to slow down any time soon. Today they've already announced another slew of cities that will be getting the same upgrade and improvements. Verizon has been steadily updating their LTE network since it launched and it continues to grow at a very fast pace. At this rate AT&T will be very behind come October or November like we've been hearing rumors on regarding the launch.

Verizon 4G LTE Hitting 15 More Cities Tomorrow While Expanding in others

Verizon Wireless has been rolling out their latest 4G LTE networks faster than most of us imagined they would. Basically their 4G offering is putting the rest to shame, while AT&T is barely even getting started. We last heard of around 25 new cities getting updated back in July and now only a few weeks later they are adding 15 more cities to the 4G spectrum while upgrading and expanding the reach in many others.

AT&T Launching 4G LTE Devices Next Week, Just Not Phones

You'd be correct if you were wondering if AT&T had launched their 4G LTE network yet and thought to yourself, no they haven't. That is because so far they've only been testing a few small areas and networks but nothing official has been launched. Next week AT&T will be launching their first 4G LTE devices and don't get too excited because they aren't smartphones or tablets, but we will however be seeing a 4G LTE mobile hotspot and a USB Modem coming on August 21st.

AT&T Confirms no LTE Smartphones until late 2011

I wouldn't really call this a huge surprise considering we still haven't heard much from AT&T regarding their 4G LTE networks, and they are just barely starting to get off the ground. Today at a tech conference AT&T's senior vice president of mobility and consumer markets, Peter Ritcher, said that the company will not have a 4G LTE enabled smartphone until very late into 2011.
