Firefox for Android update improves sharing, adds Night Mode for Reader

The latest Firefox for Android update has arrived in the Play Store today. The focus of this update appears to be sharing, however there are also a couple of other items included. As for the sharing improvements, those deal with Quick Share and NFC. Beginning first with the Quick Share feature and users will likely notice this one (thanks to the colorful app icon) in the Firefox Share menu.

Mozilla Firefox OS developer phones revealed to take on Android

Today the folks at Mozilla have finally removed the wrapping paper off a few of their developer phones running the new Firefox OS. The plan here being these mid-range at best developer friendly phones called "Geeksphone" will be the starting point for developers to start coding for the new mobile OS. Loving Android, as well as watching the competition, we figured a quick post to show you what's brewing was in order.

Firefox 16 for Android adds Reader Mode, Share features and more

Firefox is keeping their word on offering rapid releases for both their desktop, and mobile browser client. Even though it seems like they released version 15 just last week, yesterday Firefox 16 for Android was released to the wild. They've added a few new features, enhanced performance, and even added tons of security features to protect mobile users from malicious activities.

Firefox for Android gets updated and redesigned for tablets

All you Firefox fans out there have an exciting new update waiting today. The folks at Mozilla have just issued a rather large update to their popular 3rd party web browser for Android. Mozilla teases something BIG coming to Firefox next week

The team behind Firefox has taken to Twitter this evening to tease us that something "BIG" is coming to Android next week and that we should stay tuned. Obviously this is probably some new update or improvement to the Firefox web browser for Android. They didn't reveal anything in their teaser so it looks like we'll just have to wait and see.

Firefox alpha adds Flash support and really bad timing

Flash developers and enthusiasts are still reeling after Adobe dropped support for the mobile version. But the convergence of Flash users and Firefox fans (including yours truly) should get a little joy out of the fact that Mozilla is going forward with its Flash support. So far the Android version of Firefox doesn't work with Flash, but you can head over to Mozilla's web page and download the latest "Aurora" alpha to give the just-added feature a try. Naturally the implementation is a little buggy, and it doesn't help that Firefox Mobile isn't a speed demon in the best of conditions. But it works, sort of, and if you live in Firefox and rely on that one extension or Sync's bookmarks, you're one step closer to a single browser solution. Flash is expected to be available for the full (Android Market) version of Firefox sometime in 2012. Android fans and Flash devs were livid when Adobe announced that they would end support as part of a restructuring. The last major update for the Android version is in the Market now, though Adobe has stated that they'll continue with periodic bug and stability updates. Adobe will begin shifting its mobile focus to HTML5 tools and AIR, while the desktop version of Flash is still - for the moment - in active development.

One of the most popular browsers by Mozilla is coming to Android Tablets. We already have Firefox for Android but it currently only officially supports phones. Today on the Mozilla blog they've announced what I've heard a few times being called "fennecomb". This is Firefox for Android honeycomb tablets folks.
