Moto X Moto Maker estimated shipments slip to 13 days, weather to blame

The Moto Maker website once had an estimated delivery of just a few days. But it looks like that estimate has slowly been creeping up. Several readers commented on Monday about how the estimate was sitting at 8 days and it looks like that has been pushed to 13 days as of today. The delay is as a result of the Moto X assembly plant being located in Fort Worth, Texas and the recent storms that have been affected much of the country.

Moto G review

While it would probably make more sense to compare the Moto G to the Moto X, we cannot help but compare it to the Nexus 5. In part that may be due to our recent Nexus 5 usage (we reviewed the N5 and have been carrying it daily since), but we are also making the comparison given they are both available unlocked and with attractive price points. The thing is, the Nexus 5 is the top-tier and the Moto G is the mid-tier. That thought follows the patterns we see with the specs as well as the price. Anyway, talk of the Nexus 5 aside, how about we get into the Moto G, beginning with the hardware.

Moto X Cyber Monday inventory depleted in under 10 minutes

We suspect some will be less forgiving in terms of the issues that Motorola had on Cyber Monday, but judging from how quickly the Moto X coupon codes went last week and today -- it seems there was plenty of demand for a $349 Moto X. Well, $349 or $399 depending on whether you choose a 16GB or 32GB model. Anyway, the second day of the sale was today and just like last week, it ended within minutes.

Moto G gets a winter snow boot animation

We have been spending some time with the Moto G recently. Last week we shared a bit of hands-on experience with the Flip Shell cover for the handset and while putting the finishing touches on our full review, we noticed a new boot animation. It seems the Motorola Boot Services app has been updated and it brings a bit of winter.

Xiaomi image leak tips “Magic Cube” modular phone setup

There has been a bit of talk of modular phones recently. In this case we are looking towards Motorola and Project Ara, though it looks like they may not be the only company pursuing this path. Details coming from a recently posted image suggest that Xiaomi may be following in their footsteps. The image mentioned something called Magic Cube and similar to Ara, it appears as if users will be able to swap parts in and out.

Motorola Active Display update brings speed improvement

Motorola has rolled out the latest update for Active Display. The update is live in the Play Store and while this isn't a huge update with tons of new features, it does bring one important important change -- a speed improvement. According to details coming from Motorola, this one is just about saving the user a few extra seconds.

Moto G makes tidy profit for Google, according to analysts

If you thought there was no way Motorola was able to make money form the Moto G, think again. A new study posits that Motorola has worked in a tidy profit into each Moto G handset, and will clear about 5% from each sale once all is said and done. For consumers, this is great; we get a really nice device at a stellar price. For other OEMs, it could pressure them to follow suit.

Motorola CEO talks wearables, Moto X, wood backs and more

Wearable technology is a growing category at the moment. It is likely one that will continue growing with time, however for now it doesn't appear as if we have yet to see the best in any category. That isn't to say we haven't seen some quality options, but it still seems to be early days in the space. It also appears to be a category that many are watching, both on the consumer and business sides.
