Motorola Photon LTE tipped as coming soon

Late last year Motorola launched their first 4G device on the Now Network in the Motorola Photon 4G. Powered by 4G WiMAX and even rocking a kickstand similar to the popular original EVO. While the phone might not have seen the same success as the EVO, they are apparently preparing a sequel to the phone and will run on their new 4G LTE network.

It's been great here in the tech world this past week, with Google Music now open to the public, some amazing Black Friday sales starting to emerge, and finally some more Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) in our lives. Monday, Notion Ink hinted that on November 17, Android 4.0 source code would likely hit the net. Fortunately, they were wrong again - as Google leaked it to the public later that same day!

New details have now confirmed the Motorola PHOTON 4G is receiving an OTA update this week that should bring a slew of bux fixes as well as improvements to the WiMAX powered smartphone. The update is pretty sizable but most of that is probably new applications that will take advantage of the recently unveiled Motorola Lapdock 100.

Well folks, it looks like U.S. Cellular users can look forward to an excellent phone coming as soon as this month. Better known as the Motorola Photon 4G the name will instead be the Electrify and goes right in line with previous statements from US Cellular regarding an upcoming 4.3" device from Motorola. It looks like they've had this dual-core powerhouse planned for a while.

Motorola Photon 4G Bootloader Unlock Available Now

Over the weekend some crafty developers unlocked the Motorola Photon 4G's bootloader. The pudding, as the developers of the method like to call it, comes courtesy of the same method used to free the Motorola Atrix not too long ago. We're still waiting on a long term solution from Motorola, but for now we'll take the unlocked bootloader however we can get it.

It's been a crazy week of tech news, and we'll try to cover the most important bits in this issue of Android Community Weekly! The Motorola DROID Bionic cleared the FCC this Sunday and later on we even saw some more spy shots. What really came as a surprise was when the device showed up at a Verizon Wireless retail store! We should definitely see some more on this long awaited superphone soon, so just stay tuned.
