Motorola DROID running Android 4.0, we love dinosaurs too
Sure devices like the HTC Hero and Verizon's very first Motorola DROID are quite outdated, but should they be forgotten? Apparently, some developers think not. The OG Droid has recently received an update to its previous Andorid 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) ROM release that seems to have fixed quite a bit of bugs. From the video the UI doesn't lag as much either.

OG Motorola DROID gets an Ice Cream Sandwich port
The original Motorola DROID might be the single most recognized and influential Android phone of them all, due in no small part of Motorola's anti-iPhone marketing campaign. Millions of DROIDs (and Motorola Milestones, the international variant) are still running around, and ROM flashers who still use their 2009 models were probably a little peeved when the CyanogenMod team dropped official support for the phone from CM9 Ice Cream Sandwich. Of course, you can't keep a good ROM developer down: XDA member "kfazz" has created a pre-alpha build of Ice Cream Sandwich for the DROID and posted it for download.

Motorola DROID OTA update rolling out now
For all you folks still clinging to an original Motorola DROID we have good news for you today. Verizon is all set and has finally started pushing the latest over the air update for the OG DROID. Sadly while we don't have Android 2.3 Gingerbread rolling out today they are at least continuing to update the extremely popular smartphone with a few security and bug fixes.

Motorola DROID Receives Security Fix
The original Motorola DROID is finally getting some attention with a quick security fix update. No, this isn't the official update to 2.3 (Gingerbread) that we had hoped for, but it's an update none the less. These two security updates will only be available to those OG DROID users out there with a completely stock ROM, kernel, and recovery.

Motorola Droid gets Gingerbread 2.3.4 Update
The Motorola Droid, hardly needs any introduction, and while it was the very first Android 2.0 device, it never got official support for Gingerbread. Developer Peter Alfonso has been working to continue bringing stock ROMs and improved kernels to the OG Droid. Yesterday he released his latest ROM, GPA16, brings 2.3.4, Google Talk with Video and all.

Motorola Droid Kernels v0.3 Released by Peter Alfonso
The OG Droid as some call it is in fact the original Motorola Droid that was hugely popular over on Verizon. I still see the Droid more than almost any other Android I think. If you have rooted or toyed with your Droid most likely you know the name Peter Alfonso, he is the man that has been keeping the Droid chugging along for a while. With stock rooted Android 2.3 builds as well as all the different kernels you could ever imagine.

Netflix App Updated to now support Motorola Droid, other phones working too [Update]
It looks like Netflix has just updated the app for Android, it now supports the original Motorola Droid, the G'zOne Commando from Casio, as well as the LG Revolution that just started shipping with Netflix pre-installed. Earlier in May Netflix launched for Android but only with a few devices supported so it is good to see an update come so fast to support additional devices.

Motorola Droid X2 lands on Motorola and Verizon sites, specs confirmed
Last week we talked a bit about the Motorola Droid X2 when we learned that the smartphone was set to land on May 26. That day will be here before we know it and today the specs of the X2 have again been confirmed via support pages for the X2 on the Motorola website. I guess at this point the smartphone is not exactly a big secret any longer, especially with Motorola offering the full user guide in PDF form. This is your chance to learn all about the smartphone ahead of its expected launch next week.

HTC Merge finally available for Verizon, but they aren’t selling it
Reports are coming in that the HTC Merge will finally be hitting Verizon Wireless starting today. We have heard tons about this device over the past 2-4 months, from it hitting the FCC, to getting mentioned by Alltel, yet it never saw a launch. We have heard about this phone as far back as September 2010 if i recall.

HBO to GO now in the Android Market
A few weeks back, we reported that HBO to GO would be coming to the Android Market. The we didn't know when it would be coming to Android, although it was strongly hinted at May 2nd in their commercials. Well, HBO has released it early and the app is now live. Users who subscribe to the PayTV service can download it to most Android devices.
