Verizon sale cuts DROID 3, X2, Charge and Incredible 2 to just $9.99

You like Android phones. (Presumably, anyway - why else would you be here?) You like saving money. If you also like Verizon and don't mind missing out on the latest bells and whistles, you can score a pretty sweet deal on some of last year's DROID series phones. Between now and Monday, March 12th, you can get the Motorola DROID 3, Motorola DROID X2, HTC Droid Incredible 2 or the Samsung DROID Charge for just ten bucks, with a new two-year contract. There's also a DROID X2 phone and accessory pack with a car charger, holster and screen protector for "just" $49.99.

Motorola Droid X2 Getting Gingerbread Soon

Just last week Verizon started testing the Motorola Droid X2 Gingerbread update in what we call a "soak test". It looks as if things went smoothly and everything is a go because the official update page is now being shown right on Verizon. This should bring the Droid X2 up to Android 2.3 as well as the exciting new enhancements to Moto Blur or whatever they are calling their user interface enhancements.

Motorola Droid X2 Gets a Custom ROM, Looks Nice in Black

Today a custom ROM for the Droid X2 was made available. It's still in beta but this is the first ROM for the phone. I say beta but from initial reports almost everything seems to be working great and it appears to be a pretty stable and well put together ROM. It has a pretty all black theme that looks nice without being overdone.

This is still very much in the early stages so before you run over and give this a try make sure you read over the forum and what other users are reporting. According to our sources the Motorola Droid X2 has already got a working clockworkmod recovery thanks to the old bootstrap trick by Koush. Just like the original Droid X. This bootstrap app was found in what might be a random chinese forum but users are reporting it working great and some have already made backups of the stock rom and are ready to try new things.
