Motorola DROID 2 Global prematurely outed
Details of Motorola's DROID 2 Global edition prematurely leaked onto the company's site, confirming the global-roaming CDMA/GSM smartphone and its potentially-potent 1.2GHz processor.  The page has since been yanked - though is partly visible in Google's cache - but not before confirming quadband WCDMA/HSPA for European use, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 5-megapixel camera and Android 2.2. There'll also be a dual LED flash, WiFI b/g/n, GPS and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, as well as the usual microSD slot content with up to 32GB cards.  Adobe Flash Player Mobile 10.1 will be preloaded, and Motorola is claiming "improved touch screen technology".  Unfortunately there's no sign of a release date or pricing, but we do know this one is headed to Verizon. Verizon Releasing Star Wars App Pack Next Week
The Motorola R2-D2 Droid 2 was released just yesterday, but it looks like all of those Star Wars fans that weren't able to get their hands on it aren't being left completely in the dark. There's been talks about a special Empire Strikes Back applications package that would be released some time after the launch of the device. If sources are correct, then it looks like the app pack could be available exclusively for Verizon customers beginning next week.

Droid 2 Review
We recently had a Droid 2 to review and wanted to highlight some of the key points about the Droid 2. Being that the original Droid was launched almost 9 months ago, Motorola felt that it was time to update the design with some better internals and updated externals.

Verizon End of Life Sheet Says Current Droids Fading in 2011
Marking a device for end of life, especially so early, doesn't mean that you shouldn't expect future updates from this point on. As usual, an internal document from any company is meant to stay internal, so if you think just because your Droid Incredible is listed here it means it's over and done with, no worries. You've still got some time.

Motorola Droid 2 for Verizon Now Rooted
That didn't take long at all. Though, it's not surprising, considering the hard work and dedication showcased every day by the Android developer community. And considering the Droid 2 is so similar to the Droid X, many were probably just counting down the days before they could get their brand new Droid device rooted. The wait is over, folks.

Motorola Droid 2 Plagued by Signal Issues?
Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard about Apple's flamboyant attempts to drag the entire mobile phone industry into its "antennagate" situation. In the mean time though, company's have come out swinging, saying that their devices don't fall into the same shoddy category as Apple's iPhone 4. Motorola was one of those companies, releasing ad campaigns that did their best to deal the Cupertino-based company a blow to the gut, and show potential customers that their handsets don't suffer from any kind of "death grip."

Motorola Droid 2 Advertisement “Digits” Shows Up Online
The successor to the original Droid, the Motorola Droid 2, launched yesterday. It's what many people consider a soft launch, as there wasn't much official press lingering around anywhere about its existence. We had heard in the past that, due to the fact that the Droid X launched less than a month before, that Verizon was waiting to pull the trigger on their monstrous Droid advertising campaign for the Droid 2 until the end of the month. But, that hasn't stopped at least one commercial from finding its way onto the Internet.

Motorola Droid 2 R2-D2 Special Edition Hitting Shelves September 30th
As soon as news broke that an R2-D2 inspired Motorola Droid 2 would be gracing the real world, Star Wars fans all over the place got a little bit more excited for one of their little robots. Now that the Droid 2 has officially launched, a lot of people remained, asking where on Earth (or perhaps, in the galaxy) their blue-and-white version was. It looks like we finally have an answer, and how fitting that it gets revealed today.

Motorola Droid 2 Unboxed and Handled by SlashGear
It's that time again, folks. The fine fellows over at SlashGear have managed to get a far more in-depth hands-on look and feel of the Motorola Droid 2, and they've been gracious enough to share it with the rest of us. They've even gone a step further, and pulled out the original Droid. They've done a nice comparison of the two devices, which is reasonable, considering the major similarities the two devices share.

DROID 2 R2-D2 special edition spotted in wild
Verizon's R2-D2 special edition of the Motorola DROID 2 has been spotted in the wild, snapped by a convention attendee at Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando ahead of the carrier's planned preview.  Basically the same DROID 2 as is on sale now but with an R2-D2 skin, the handset is certainly distinctive and more than a little geeky. Verizon has also kicked off a pre-registration page for those looking for further DROID 2 R2-D2 information.  The limited edition Android 2.2 smartphone is set to go on sale from September 30th, but so far we don't know quite how limited or how much the handset will cost.
