Jolla has just brought some good news to brave testers of its Sailfish mobile operating system. Starting today, those who have access to a Nexus 4 smartphone can install an alpha-quality preview of Sailfish OS for Android.
Analytics company comScore has just released its 2013 third quarter report that gives their own take on the current state of the smartphone industry in the US. Using data gathered from its MobiLens online survey and Mobile Metrix census-based measurement methods, comScore paints us a picture of the mobile device market that, frankly, shouldn't surprise anyone by now.
It appears that Google's Seoul offices have been raided today by Korean trustbusters looking for information on the possible stoppering of search opponents in the company's mobile operating system Android. Search engine company NHN (popular in the area) and Daum Communications this past April asked the country's Fair Trade Commission to investigate Google's mobile search business practices. It appears that this request may well have been the source of the raid this week, and Google has responded with compliance and assurances to the public that they've got no ill willing code in play that would make their OS an unfair playing field.
It looks as if the battle continues over the recent Wall Street Journal Poll asking who makes the best mobile OS. Launched late last week, we first say the poll with strong numbers favoring Android which, considering it's user base, is not surprising that it came first among readers of the site. However, yesterday we reported on Microsoft shooting up in the rankings.
We let you know of the previously ongoing poll of the day over at Wall Street Journal asking who makes the best mobile operating system late last week. When we posted Google was clearly ahead with 52.5% of the votes [that's 3627 out of 6,906]. However something strange has happened since we last saw the results.
