Firefox for Android update improves sharing, adds Night Mode for Reader

The latest Firefox for Android update has arrived in the Play Store today. The focus of this update appears to be sharing, however there are also a couple of other items included. As for the sharing improvements, those deal with Quick Share and NFC. Beginning first with the Quick Share feature and users will likely notice this one (thanks to the colorful app icon) in the Firefox Share menu.

Rockmelt social discovery app arrives for Android

Rockmelt has officially launched for Android and while this had previously been available for iOS users, it was made clear that this release is "not merely a port." In fact, the Rockmelt Blog tells the story about how the whole company moved over to Android so they "could all live the experience." That being said, while this is not an iOS port, the Rockmelt app does have a familiar feature set.

Opera for Android exits beta, we go hands on

Opera launched the WebKit based browser for Android earlier in the year and at the time, the app was sporting a beta tag. Well, flash forward till today and another Opera browser update has arrived for Android users and this time around the browser has ditched the beta tag. Basically, while this release and these features are now ready for prime time, this update should look and feel familiar for those who had been using the beta.

Earlier in the month we saw news from Opera about how they had reached the 300 million user mark. That news came along with details of an updated browser, one that is based on webkit. The folks at Opera had promised that they would be showing it off during Mobile World Congress and as of today -- they have released it for all to enjoy. The browser is available by way of the Google Play Store and is dubbed, Opera browser beta.

Opera Ice promises to put mobile Chrome browser on notice

Opera Software has revealed its next generation browser, and you know we wouldn't be talking about it here on Android Community if it didn't have something to do with mobile devices. Introduced today over on Pocket-Lint, Opera Ice is a new mobile browser targeted at iOS and Android. Opera has seen the need for change in the mobile browser space, and plans to use Ice as a means of implementing that change.

Chrome gaining a foothold on Android devices

On desktops, Chrome is far and away one of the more popular browsers, but on mobile, it has taken a while to find its footing. Well, according to a new report from Net Applications, Chrome is finally getting a decent amount of usage on Android devices. For iOS, the usage is still negligible, but at least Android users are moving over to Chrome. It shows Google's efforts with the browser were not a waste of time.

Firefox 16 for Android adds Reader Mode, Share features and more

Firefox is keeping their word on offering rapid releases for both their desktop, and mobile browser client. Even though it seems like they released version 15 just last week, yesterday Firefox 16 for Android was released to the wild. They've added a few new features, enhanced performance, and even added tons of security features to protect mobile users from malicious activities.
