More good news for Google Voice and Hangouts users—the two services finally get SMS and MMS support from Verizon. This is a major development because a lot of people have started to use Google Voice for their messaging needs.
There are numerous instant messaging apps on the Play Store today but old school MMS via Google Voice is still available. Google Voice MMS only works over mobile carriers with MMS support. Unfortunately, not a lot of carriers are getting MMS support that's why some messages are missed. But Google is changing all that as Alex Wiesen of the Google Voice team recently made this announcement on his Google+ page that the MMS support is expanding in North America.
Google has just made available an update to its Hangouts app on Android that addresses a glaring issue that might have caused some users some amount of money without noticing it. Now they will have the option to disable sending MMS when sending an SMS to multiple recipients.
Early this year, Google set out to consolidate some of its real-time messaging services under one name: Google+ Hangouts. Now it seems that the company is seeking to further bring in other communication channels too, as users will soon be able to send and receive SMS and MMS via Hangouts.
Today the extremely useful application mysms has just been updated with a few new features that makes it even more useful and one of my favorite apps. If you've never used mysms, it lets you send and receive text messages on your phone but it also lets you do the same from your desktop, laptop, tablet, and even a browser. It's pretty powerful so check it out.
The HTC EVO isn’t out yet and there’s already a few custom ROM’s for it. This time around, Froyo has been customized to run on the EVO. So if you have one now or are picking on up, you can have Android 2.2 loaded a running on your handset.
This update is long overdue. Those of you that have used this app know it’s not that good, and that’s disappointing for an official app. You would think the app from the company itself would be the best but that is often not the way it is. V1.2 brings with it the ability to access your inbox and notifications. Are you excited yet? This feels like when MMS was finally made available on the iPhone. This basic feature should’ve been there from the beginning.
In a press release that was just sent to us, Samsung announced its plans to update the Galaxy Spica to Android 2.1. This update brings all the goodies that come with 2.1 and a few from Samsung themselves.
