Android 2.1 update for Motorola MILESTONE is out
Motorola have finally pushed out the Android 2.1 firmware update for the Motorola MILESTONE, with the software being available today for direct download or, the company promise, as an OTA update in the next few days.  Android 2.1 brings with it the potential for up to 9 homescreen panes, Live Wallpapers, speech-to-text and various bug and security fixes. It's been a few months since Motorola's last update for the MILESTONE, which saw the handset blessed with Android 2.0.1.  In the meantime, Motorola's other Android devices - those with MOTOBLUR - have languished with Android 1.6. You can download Android 2.1 for the MILESTONE here, though you'll need a PC to install it to your phone.  More details in the release notes [PDF link]; let us know how you get on! [via SlashGear]

Android Mail mix-up: is your email getting garbled?

Android Mail mix-up: is your email getting garbled?
I'm having issues with my Android email, and it looks like I'm not the only one.  Since using a Motorola MILESTONE and a Google Nexus One, I've experienced an odd problem where, periodically, the handsets' native email client will begin to mix up email headers - the sender and subject - with body text from other messages. A quick online search shows I'm not alone; support forums for both individual devices like the Motorola DROID and the Nexus One, together with general Android forums, are peppered with users having problems with mixed-up mail.  While I'm trying to use Android's native Exchange support, others are having similar issues with POP and IMAP accounts.  Some users have problems with the date on emails, with email claiming to have arrived in 1969.` The only solution, at present, appears to involve removing the errant account and re-adding it to the phone, wiping all data in the process.  Sometimes merely deleting the account isn't enough, and you have to dig through the settings to manually wipe archive remnants.  I've had the problem appear twice on the Nexus One, and it happened at least once on the MILESTONE (the European version of the DROID); other owners have been less fortunate, and have had almost daily errors. Before the Nexus One, my daily-driver was another Android device, the HTC Hero, though I used a third-party app for email as HTC's Mail client didn't support our Exchange-compliant server.  As far as I can tell, though, the issue has mainly come to light with Android 2.x; the MILESTONE I've been testing is running OS 2.0 while the Nexus One is on OS 2.1. I'm planning to test out a third-party Mail replacement - I also want Exchange calendar support, which frustratingly 2.x still can't manage - to try to work around the problem, but it's galling to have to pay for extra software when the advertised functionality lets you down.  Anyone else finding email on their Google phone is causing headaches?

By now, chances are you already enjoyed those 3 video ads from Korea about the MOTOROI by Motorola. If you like Korea's first Android 2.0 handset, then you might be happy to know that it is coming to America sooner rather then later. According to the Korea Herald, there's a great chance that Motorola's new Android handset will make it to the US. First hint came from Rick Wolochatiuk, president and representative director of Motorola Korea, who said: "The product will be launched in other markets around the world." Also, at a press conference Bae Joon-dong Senior Vice President of SK Telecom said: "The MOTOROI is a different model from the Droid, (Motorola's Android smartphone launched in the United States), and it will be launched in the United States around March". So what do you think, would you wait until March to get this handset?

Motorola MILESTONE; The Smartphone Without Limits, Touts UK TV Commercial

Motorola MILESTONE; The Smartphone Without Limits, Touts UK TV Commercial
And since we are already talking about the Motorola MILESTONE, and how it took less than three hours - record time - to sell out in the UK. Well, lets talk about the UK TV commercial for this awesome Android phone. This new commercial for the Motorola smartphone doesn't have the bomb-like objects coming out of the stealth fighters and scaring the cowboys and their horses. And it doesn't have the robotized voice saying "DDROOOIIIDDD". Nope, instead, there's a voice of a nice Brit lady, telling you several things about the device. We know that many of you don't like or care about the DROID commercials, but they are good nonetheless. On this UK commercial, you hear about propositions that many smartphones can claim as their own too. Call me crazy, but I'm almost certain that, if the Brits see the DROID's commercials, they'll be more influence to buy the MILESTONE. Motorola Milestone Sells Out in Record Time, Less than 3 hours
We know the DROID by Motorola is a great device, and many people love it, or love to get one. That's especially understandable, and more so after TIME announced their “Top 10 Everything of 2009″ list with the Motorola DROID ranking as the number 1 on the gadgets category, over the iPhone 3GS, which took the 4th place. With that in mind, we have no doubt the DROID by Motorola is a very popular smartphone in the good ol' US of A. But many of you might be asking themselves, how is the DROID's twin brother; the MILESTONE, doing in the UK? Apparently, pretty good. According to Expansys, it took less than three hours to sell all the MILESTONE by Motorola phones that they had over there. Below is what the CEO of eXpansys; Roger Butterworth had to say about this:
The demand for the Motorola Milestone has been staggering. We received the units at 10am on Thursday, 2.5 hours later we had sold out. A second shipment is already on the way and should be arriving in time for Christmas orders.
