Key Plus allows launch of apps from LG device volume buttons

Much has been said about the patented rear-placed power button and volume rocker of recent LG smartphone devices, but to tell you the truth, it really does make life easier. Key Plus is one of those apps that take advantage of the unique volume button placement on LG smartphones, giving you convenient access to launching apps even when the phone is locked.

LG to start unlocking bootloaders, coming first to EU LG G4s

If you like to tweak your Android devices and you happen to own an LG device, you would most likely be familiar with the situation – it’s highly possible that you will encounter a locked bootloader when trying to gain root access and install custom recovery. The South Korean manufacturer has been making noises about allowing for unlocked bootloaders, but we haven’t seen it – until today.

LG G4 survives being submerged in water for 2 hours

If a smartphone does not claim to be water resistant or even dust resistant, would you still submit it to an endurance test of sorts? Well, the new flagship LG G4 does not have any IP certification or even nano-coatings like Motorola, but still, the folks over at ITechWorld thought of testing its water submersion powers, just to see how powerful it is and if it will survive a dunking, just in case you get caught out in the rain or something.

Wifi on LG G Watch R enabled via mod

We’ve talked about the fact that LG has not activated the wifi feature on the LG G Watch R when it pushed out the Android 5.1.1 update. The device clearly has wifi hardware in it, and is certified by the FCC to run wifi. Maybe it was a marketing decision to activate all features in the much more expensive LG Watch Urbane and hype that instead of the basic LG G Watch R wearable/smartwatch. That being the case does not however stop the good people at XDA to create their mods and try activating the feature. That day has arrived, ladies and gentlemen.

Infographic: How much of your smartphone is screen

We love infographics. It seems that as the years progress, people have become better and better at doing this – that is, communicate a complicated issue with visuals so much better than just mere words would. Today we have a particularly telling one from the guys over at Mobilsiden.dk, one that shows you just how much of your phone is screen real estate in relation to bezels and other non-screen elements.

T-Mobile to start selling LG G4 by May 27

Starting May 27, those looking for a brand new smartphone (that isn't a fruit or a Samsung) may very well consider LG's new flagship, the G4, as it will now be available on T-Mobile. The "un-carrier" will start selling the new smartphone on their network and start shipping it by June 3, making you (if you do decide to get one) one of the first to own the device, at least in North America.

Google to launch two Nexus phones but no tablet this 2015

We've been saying that Google might release two new Nexus phones simultaneously but we're silent about the next Nexus tablet. Truth is, we haven't heard any information yet and looks like we know the reason why: there will be no Nexus tablet this year. After Huawei was tipped to be manufacturing the next Nexus phone, LG was soon rumored to be making another Nexus phone. We're expecting two units this year and we'd probably hear about them at the upcoming Google I/O conference.

LG gives official statement on G Watch R ‘no wifi’ issue

It has been kind of a roller coaster ride, a soap opera if you will, regarding the “no wifi” issue on the LG G Watch R smartwatch. The owners of the undoubtedly nice LG G Watch R were expecting that with the Android 5.1.1 update to Android Wear promising WiFi connectivity, their smartwatches would actually gain that feature. Much to their surprise and disappointment, this did not happen. We now get a clearer picture with the official LG statement.

LG offers free extra battery, microSD for G4 buyers in US

Looks like LG is trying to use whatever marketing leverage it can to push for the sales of its new flagship the LG G4. It’s offering something juicy to the prospective buyers of the new device in the US. LG US is offering an extra battery complete with separate charging cradle, and an extra microSD that will virtually double your storage.
