AT&T deal for Leap Wireless gets FCC Approval

The FCC has given the blessing for AT&T to purchase Leap Wireless. Admitting an unregulated buyout may not have been in the public’s best interest, some concessions made by AT&T appeased the FCC enough to allow the union to move forward. Leap operates Cricket, a prepaid carrier which promises to offer big things for AT&T moving forward.

AT&T CEO talks Cricket acquisition and about being “fairly aggressive”

AT&T acquired Leap Wireless, perhaps better known as Cricket, back in October of 2013. At the time there was talk of AT&T gaining spectrum, as well as some forgiving debt. But it wasn't all that long after we saw news about how Leap Wireless lost nearly 200,000 customers. While the chatter seemed to have gone quiet since, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson recently turned up with talk about being "fairly aggressive."

AT&T to fold Aio into Leap Wireless if buyout pushes through

If all goes according to AT&T's plan, new subscribers to its newly launched Aio Wireless prepaid service might see themselves shuttled off to a new company. According to an FCC filing, the carrier plans on merging its prepaid subsidiary with Leap Wireless' business if the acquisition of the latter proves to be successful.

Cricket Wireless adds the 4.5-inch ZTE Source

Cricket Wireless has announced another ZTE handset. In this case the device is the ZTE Source, which will be coming available later this week. Cricket will have the Source available beginning on October 20th and with a contract-free price of $219.99. This phone has a 4.5-inch display and will be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with 4G LTE connectivity.

AT&T takes charge of Cricket, buys Leap Wireless for $1.19 billion

The folks from AT&T have just dropped a big piece of news. That being the company has purchased Leap Wireless for the tune of around $1.19 billion in cash. Leap Wireless, better known as Cricket in many parts of the US, is one of the largest telecommunications network in the US aside from the bigger names. Could this be the big news they were teasing for next week?

Cricket Wireless to launch the Samsung Admire 2 and Galaxy Discover

Cricket Wireless recently announced the upcoming availability of the GALAXY S 4, however it looks like that will not be the only Samsung smartphone joining the lineup. The GALAXY S 4 will be the higher-end Samsung model, but Cricket has also detailed plans for an upcoming launch of the Admire 2 and the Galaxy Discover.
