Google hits the brakes on multi-lingual support for Google Now

Just when we thought we could finally ask Google Now to find the nearest pizza place in Spanish, Google is apparently delaying the roll-out of the on-the-fly multiple language support on the ubiquitous voice search tool. Four days ago, the same time as Google I/O but not really part of the major reveals there, an announcement was made that multi-lingual support would soon be rolling out for Google Now, but has today been re-scheduled.

Yahoo confirms SkyPhrase acquisition

News of another Yahoo acquisition has surfaced this morning. This latest is a company called SkyPhrase and at this time, we are seeing confirmation coming by way of Yahoo and SkyPhrase. For those not familiar with the name, SkyPhrase is a company that has built natural language processing technology. And in the words of Yahoo, the technology is "amazing."

Google Now supports alternate languages, thanks to XDA workaround

With all the work done by Google on language translation and recognition, it’s still a bit strange that some of their apps are english-only. Case in point: Google Now. Relegated to the english language, Google Now has a lot to offer those in the non-english speaking world. Over at XDA Developers, user Sletmo has created a Google Now workaround which will display information in just about any language.
