The Yahoo! Phone: Running on Google’s Android

Can you say Winning... Oh wait I must be confusing this with something else. Apparently Yahoo is planning to build a phone running on Google's Android OS. Maybe I should say fail instead but then again Yahoo is the biggest search giant in Japan, not Google. What we have here are a few reports that over in Japan Yahoo is planning to release an Android phone with a nice custom user interface skin and geared at you guessed it -- Yahoooo!

Sharp Aquos Hybrid 007sh Clamshell Official

What in the weird is going on here? It's true Android can be run on basically any device you've got prepared for it to run on, but a clamshell phone? Sort of like back to the future, yes? This device is Sharp's effort to bring something "new" to the Android world with some surprisingly impressive specs for such a retro looking phone. Behold a 1GHz second-gen Snapdragon processor, 16-megapixel rear camera, and Dropbox and Qik apps pre-installed for your pleasure!

Kyocera Katsura Android “Gaming Tablet” Photos Leaked [EXCLUSIVE]

Well this is odd, to say the least. We've been passed some relatively blurry photos of what our super secret source is telling us is called the Kyocera "Katsura." Our source preferred to remain anonymous but didn't mind being called "our man in Eastern Europe." He wouldn't say where he was living, or where the photos were taken, but we've got to assume it's within a few fathoms of Kyoto Japan, since that's where Kyocera is based, yet still in an area where Euros are used, as a 10p Euro coin is pictured in one of the photos.

NEC MEDIAS E-04C 7.7MM Android Phone [Hands-On in Japan] [EXCLUSIVE]

Our main homie Ewdi is up in his crib over in Japan [don't worry, he's completely safe], and he found one single store that had a working model (aka not just a dummy model) of the MEDIAS E-04C 7.7MM Android phone. That's one thin phone, I must say. Ewdi notes that this model is running Android 2.2.2 Froyo, and is not as snappy as he thought it would be - and trust me when I say Ewdi's had his hands on his fair share of smartphones. Our man in Japan with the goods!

Verizon joins AT&T to offer free calling and texting to Japan

Verizon is doing a really great thing to help customers connect with loved ones in Japan.  Joining AT&T, Verizon will be suspending any charges for wireless and landline calls to the land of the rising sun from March 11 to April 20th. Calling card calls , text, and multimedia messages to friends and family will also be free during this period ((if long distance calling fees were charged, credits will be issued in a future bill statement).  And Verizon FIOS customers who are not subscribed, are now receiving TV Japan free until March 18th to keep up with all the news coming out of that stricken island nation.

MEDIAS E-04C 7.7MM Android Phone Further Detailed

A couple days ago we saw a sort of sneak peek at a new phone from NEC called MEDIAS E-04C. It's a 7.7MM-thick Android smartphone and although it appears that it'll only be showing up in Japan, it's just too cute not to look at a bit closer. Now we've got a slew of additional details including the preorder date, which is March 4, 2011, and further confirmation that this phone is indeed 7.7MM-thin. This phone will officially be released on March 15, 2011, and it'll be running Android 2.2 Froyo.

Android Disney Phone Detailed [Video]

Last time we spoke about this lovely Mickey Mouse branded phone, we didn't know all that much about it. Now we've got a bit of a tip from a fellow named Paul.F who has shown us the way to the official Disney Phone homepage in Japan. This is the DM009SH, previously believed to be a re-branded version of the Galapagos 003SH, this one appears to be not all that far off point. This is Disney's first Android smartphone (and indeed their first smartphone period, if you want to think of it that way,) all previous models being lower-tier flipphones and other tiny products. Here's the big mouse.
