Samsung found guilty across the board – fined over 1 billion dollars

Things surely aren't looking good for Samsung right about now. As I'm sure you're all aware the lawsuit between Samsung and Apple is currently going through the final verdict stages. After a 3 week lawsuit and hours of deliberation the jury has found Samsung "guilty" for all 21 phones brought forward, but not on the Galaxy Tab line. More details below.

Google kicked from iPhone again with YouTube removal

Today some rather interesting news has just hit the web regarding Apple and their iPhone going after Google again. This week Apple has released their latest beta for iOS 6 -- the OS version that will grace their next iPhone. Along with the new release is the complete absence of YouTube. Google's obviously popular application has been completely removed from iOS for the first time since the original iPhone debut in 2007.

Steve Wozniak shows us his travel bag full of gadgets – Android included

If you're like me you probably carry around more than one or two gadgets on a daily basis. Between multiple phones, an extra battery, and usual a tablet I do pretty well -- but nothing compared to some. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak decided to share with the world what all he carries around when he travels. His travel bag must be pretty darn big because he packs an arsenal of gadgets.

What to do with your Verizon unlimited data plan

Like a few of you, I was dismayed to hear last week that Verizon would be phasing out its customers who were "grandfathered" into unlimited data plans by forcing them to adopt the new shared data plans this summer. I've been an unlimited customer for years, and when I lived out in the country the tethering plan saved me around a thousand dollars a year in overage fees I'd otherwise have been paying. "Blow this for a game of soldiers," said I, "they can have my unlimited data when they take it from my cold, dead hands!"

EA Mobile taking away games you’ve paid for – you don’t own them

Sadly there is a story going around in the Apple and iOS world today that rattled my cage a little bit. Usually I don't sympathize with the iCrowd but this story is pretty upsetting. Basically my title should be "You don't own your games or apps" but I wanted to toss in EA Mobile so everyone knows who I'm talking about. Apparently even if you buy a game (and pay $4.99) they can pull it from you at will, it's only a license.

Samsung and Apple CEOs agree to lawsuit settlement talks

Apple and Samsung have been at battle for what seems like years now. With lawsuits all over the globe stacked full of litigation from patent infringement to design copying and more. This hard fought boxing match might soon be coming to its final round as we are now hearing the two are looking to at least attempt to be nice, even if they still don't play nice together.

Some iPhone owners aren’t happy about Instagram for Android

Full disclosure: I'm not a fan of Instagram. I see very little value in low-resolution photos with minimal filters posted to an "exclusive" social network, when anyone can do the same with a smartphone and a free editor. That said, I'm glad to see the millions of Android users who were patiently waiting to get into Instagram finally have their patience rewarded. But one group of people isn't so thrilled to see Instagram's potential userbase grow by a couple hundred million: iPhone and other iOS users. And they've taken to Twitter en masse to whine about it. Aww, bless their poor little hipster hearts.

Chinese “Android” store sells iPhones too

Hardly a week goes by without the tech world spotting a humorous fake piece of electronic detritus coming out of China's seedier factories, and these days it's usually running Android. (Hooray for open source!) But at least one Chinese retailer has decided to go all out and copy Android for their entire storefront. It's not necessarily "fake" in the sense that the branding is misappropriated; anyone selling Android hardware can make use of Google's Android logos and typefaces. But simply naming your store "Android", as the shop in Zhuhai, Guangdong province has done, is a no-no.
