Huawei announces unaudited 2013 earnings

If you want an idea of just how attractive China is to OEMs, look no further than Huawei. The company, which is almost wholly focussed on the Chinese market, announced their unaudited earnings for 2013 yesterday. Profits are way up, and their growth goals are right on target. This from a company that has withdrawn from the most lucrative market for consumer devices, and instead looks to an emerging China for answers.

Google bites back, practically calls Rockstar a patent troll

Just in time to become a rather strange Christmas present, Google has filed a lawsuit against Rockstar, a company that has sued Google and its Android OEM partners over a variety of patents owned by the now bankrupt Nortel Networks. Aside from the legalese saying how its Nexus devices do not infringe on those patents, Google is calling out Rockstar for what it really is: a patent troll.

Huawei Honor 3X and 3C smartphones get an official unveil

Huawei has announced a pair of new devices for the Honor lineup. This time around the announcement included the Honor X3 and Honor 3C which feature a 5.5-inch and 5-inch display respectively. They both also have a display that tops out at 720p in terms of resolution. Huawei did pack the Honor 3X with an octa-core processor and also touched a bit on why they opted for 720p as opposed to going 1080p.
