KDDI Japan intros new HTC J Butterfly with Duo Camera

HTC has just announced the new J Butterfly HTL23 with KDDI in Japan. It comes with high end specs like the One M8 but in a more plastic-like phone body. Coming in Rouge, Canvas and Indigo color, the new J Butterfly has a 13 megapixel + 2 megapixel dual camera module, offering HTC's Duo Camera features like UFocus and Duo Effects.

HTC One M8 gets 4.4.3 update with some 4.4.4 fixes

It might sound a bit weird, but the HTC One M8 is only now getting updated to Android 4.4.3. The rollout actually started in the US last week, at least for the unlocked versions, and is finally making its way to Europe. This massive update bumps the Android version to 4.4.3 but does include some changes coming from 4.4.4, which means that HTC won't need to release that latest version immediately.

AT&T now offers the Amazon Fire Phone, HTC Desire 610

AT&T has just added to Android smartphones to its lineup, now making available Amazon’s Fire Phone and the HTC Desire 610 to its subscribers under contract or without one. Please hold off on snarky comments on whether the Fire Phone is indeed an Android phone or not, but consumers should be relatively glad that they are getting variety in their choices, not to mention the phone being sold in more places other than Amazon.

HTC One M8 shows off red and pink colors

If you’re the type of person who prefers to have your smartphone in flashy colors without resorting to using phone casings, then HTC One M8’s newest color offerings would be right up your alley. They are now making the smartphone available in two other color variants, namely red and pink, to appeal to those who would rather forego the original Gunmetal Gray and Glacial Silver colors.

Verizon’s HTC One Remix is a rebranded One mini 2

"A rose by any other name", or so the oft-quoted phrase goes. Verizon has just announced the arrival of a certain HTC One Remix, bearing key features of the One M8 in a tinier package. For all intents and purposes, however, this is the very same One mini 2 that will be launched in Europe and Asia-Pacific, simply slapped on with Verizon branding. But that's not exactly a bad thing.

HTC makes default keyboard app available on Google Play Store

Just like other OEMs like Motorola and Sony, HTC has also now “consciously uncoupled” (thank you Gwyneth Paltrow for that phrase) one of its system apps and made it available on the Google Play Store. The default keyboard for most HTC devices, HTC Sense Input, is now available for download at the store, but of course, it is only for HTC devices, specifically for the HTC One M7, HTC One M8 and the newest phones for the Dream series.

HTC might have accidentally leaked upcoming smartwatch

There are generally two ways you want to handle secrecy on a new product – you go the Steve Jobs way, which is to guard the secret as if your life and the life of all your loved ones depended on it. Or you can go “controlled leaks” which is what most companies do now, we think. Jury’s still out on whichever HTC was going for, but the end result is that they might have just leaked their upcoming Android Wear smartwatch.

HTC Desire 516 enters Euro budget phone market

HTC has officially announced that the dual-sim budget smartphone HTC Desire 516 will now be made available in certain European markets, with the company expanding its reach in the budget device strata. The most notable element – or should we say absence – of this launch is that HTC has decided that the new budget smartphone will not be containing Android 4.4 Kitkat.
