HTC Sensation XL

HTC Sensation XL Ice Cream Sandwich update is live

Listen up, UK residents: if you're sporting HTC's beats-enabled plus-sized smartphone, you'll want to check your setting menu for a long-overdue Android 4.0 update. Reports are surfacing that the HTC Sensation XL is seeing its Ice Cream Sandwich rollout begin, at least for those on Vodafone. Other scattered reports say that international models are being updated as well, and they're getting it over the air.

White HTC Sensation hits Netherlands with Ice Cream Sandwich on March 1

Oh look, another white version of an existing smartphone. How mildly interesting. But wait, gentle reader: the bonus that comes along with the newest HTC sensation might just make you do a digital double-take. The Taiwanese manufacturer announced today that the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the popular mid-range smartphone would be releasing soon, but the special white version of the Sensation will (as far as we know) be the first HTC device to ship with Android 4.0. At the moment the launch of the white Sensation is only confirmed for the Netherlands. HTC will update to ICS for current owners of the Sensation, Sensation XE and Sensation XL around the same time.

HTC Sensation XL hands-on [Video]

The HTC Sensation XL has been officially revealed, the company's first Android smartphone to be built with Beats Audio in from the ground up, and toting a super-sized 4.7-inch Super LCD along for the ride. A 1.5GHz single-core MSM8255 handset with 768MB of RAM, all in a 9.9mm thick unibody-style chassis, the Sensation XL does make a few compromises: not least the WVGA resolution display. We caught up with HTC for some hands-on time and to ask a few spec decision questions.
