HTC Rezound

HTC One S and Rezound updates rolling out today

While we've had tons of news today regarding HTC's newest smartphone, simply named the One, now we're getting additional details regarding a few of their already available and popular smartphones. Both the HTC One S from T-Mobile, and Verizon's HTC Rezound have updates rolling out today. Sadly neither are Jelly Bean, but we have the details below.

Verizon confirms global roaming for Rezound and three DROIDs

We've seen hacks and hints, but Verizon has finally confirmed that select devices in its 4G LTE stable will be getting access to global roaming soon. The HTC Rezound and the Motorola DROID RAZR, DROID RAZR MAXX and DROID 4 will all have their latent GSM capabilities switched on this summer, with voice roaming possible in "more than 220 countries" and data in "more than 205". Exact dates were not given.

Verizon may enable global roaming on LTE phones soon

Verizon's no stranger to global roaming, but thus far none of its 4G LTE devices have been graced with this feature. This, despite the fact that many users have been able to mod phones like the HTC Rezound for just that, and even enable rudimentary access to domestic GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile. Some candid photos of upcoming in-store materials show that Verizon is indeed planning to activate the latent GSM bands in the HTC Rezound, and probably other LTE phones, for international travel.

HTC Rezound gets a newer official ICS ROM

We've already seen HTC's Verizon flagship Rezound get a leaked official Ice Cream Sandwich build, but it's been so long that another is apparently ready as well. The latest Android 4.0 version is build 3.13.605.7, and the folks over at Android Police have hosted it for download. Unfortunately there are a few issues for would-be flashers: you'll need a stock ROM and a locked bootloader or an S-OFF device. Those of you who used HTC's official bootloader unlock will have to sit tight or find a ROM Update Utility (RUU).

Verizon leak shows DROID RAZR and Rezound ICS testing to end in May

We know, we know - owners of the HTC Rezound, Motorola DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX got something of a false alarm a few weeks ago, when Best Buy claimed that these Verizon phones were getting Ice Cream Sandwich updates. The upgrade days came and went, but Verizon, Motorola and HTC remained steadfast that they'd be updated... eventually. Now an internal Verizon screenshot shows that the RAZRs' testing period will end on May 17th, and the Rezound will end even sooner, on May 7th.
