Droid Incredible 2/S Achieve Permanent Root with S-Off

HTC has promised to unlock their bootloaders on future phones, which is awesome for sure. We have been left, however with several great phones that are still locked down. Luckily developers are working to free those phones that were locked down before the community talked some sense into HTC. Among those devices is the Incredible S, or Droid Incredible 2 in the States. A group of developers working on these and other recent HTC phones, have successfully used their AlphaRevX exploit on the Incredible 2/S.

HTC Desire HD and Incredible S Android 2.3 Gingerbread going OTA now

HTC has confirmed it is pushing out the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the HTC Desire HD and HTC Incredible S. The OTA update will be flagged up with a message on the smartphones themselves, and bring the handsets up to speed with newer HTC devices like the HTC Desire S. Of course you'll still have HTC Sense and all the usual apps, but we're expecting a little extra speed and stability thanks to the joys of Gingerbread. HTC advises backing up your phone before you upgrade, though it's not clear if the update will actually wipe your phone in the process. We're checking our Desire HD now and will report back when we find out more. Let us know how you get on in the comments!

HTC Incredible S Review by Chris Davies

Our man in England Chris Davies has done it again with a fabulous review of the HTC Incredible S, a lovely phone that, although he expected a bit of letdown in light of the slightly less-than-top-tier nature of the phone, Chris found himself liking quite a bit. We got to handle this phone back at Mobile World Congress and now Chris has the full dish on the situation, lovely pics and video example and all!

HTC Incredible S blushes on Danish site

There's a listing of a sexy HTC Incredible S in Red trim on the site of a Danish electronics retailer. Aside from it's Fire Engine red paint scheme, there's nothing different from it's official variant. That also means it will have to be purchased unsubsidized, although there's no mention of price or availability on the site listing. The unsubsidized price hovers around $550 here in the US. And chances are, though, that users in Europe will be using the Euro-friendly GSM version we reported on last month.

HTC Incredible 2 with Verizon Branding Found [SAME AS INCREDIBLE S]

You know how sometimes there's a phone in one country and they call it one thing, then there's that same phone in a different country and they call it something else? That sort of thing is happening right now with what AndroidSPIN has listed as a Verizon HTC Incredible 2. They've got pics of it from an unknown source and have a list of specifications for it that are suspiciously close to what we know are attached to the phone that just happens to look exactly the same: the HTC Incredible S, which we personally held and flipped over in our hands at Mobile World Congress 2011.

HTC Incredible S brings “Inside Out” design to Europe

Until now, Verizon has been the only way to get the HTC Incredible, but all that changes with the HTC Incredible S. HTC's third "evolutionary" device launched at MWC 2011 this week, the Incredible S keeps the angular "Inside Out" styling but switches the CDMA radio for Euro-friendly GSM. There's still a 4-inch display, 8-megapixel autofocus camera and dual-LED flash, but now they're joined by a front-facing webcam. Under the hood is Qualcomm's 1GHz single-core MSM8225, just like in the HTC Desire S, though at launch it will be running Android 2.2 Froyo with HTC Sense; the company says it plans an update to Android 2.4 Gingerbread "early on." Release is expected in early Q2 2011, with pricing tba. [gallery] Press Release:
