T-Mobile will add international HSPA+ bands this year
One of them most annoying things about being a gadget lover in America is that none of the wireless carriers share all of their radio bands, making switching a phone from one carrier to another somewhere between difficult and impossible. But it'll get a little easier by year's end, thanks to T-Mobile's continuing network upgrades. A company executive told journalists that it's adding more wireless spectrum in targeted bands, so that international HSPA+ phones will finally work with speeds faster than 2G.

XCom Global Huawei 3G USB Modem Review
Earlier this year the folks from Huawei were nice enough to offer up some of their USB 3G E176G Dongles with XCom Global data for the team to use while we covered all things Android at Mobile World Congress back during February in Barcelona Spain. If you enjoyed all the news, coverage, and hands-on from the largest mobile event of the year brought to you by us, it was all powered by Huawei's modem. For those times our phones weren't capable of a hotspot, XCom Global saved the day, and the event.

T-Mobile expands 4G rollout, talks about LTE in 2013
Now that the T-Mobile AT&T merger has been terminated they are looking ahead to 2013 and trying hard to get back on track. We've been bemoaning the lack of availability of the Sony Tablet P, a unique clamshell Android tablet, ever since it launched in Japan and failed to materialize here in the US. It looks like the long wait is finally over: the Sony Tablet P will come to AT&T on Sunday, March 4th, four months after it hit the market elsewhere. The tablet will cost $399.99 - not bad, but of course you'll also need to sign up for a new two-year contract or renew your current one. Unlike most of the new tablets headed to MWC, the Tablet P will only get access to HSPA+ "4G", not the new LTE network.

AT&T gets 11 new 4G LTE markets from NYC to San Francisco and more
AT&T has recently announced the launch of 11 new 4G LTE markets bringing their total up to 26 available 4G LTE locations. While this isn't nearly close to what Verizon's rollout has seen, it's a good start and things are slowly starting to look up for AT&T's LTE aspirations. AT&T claims to be reaching 74 million customers.

Despite sticking with the older HSPA+ standard with no LTE plans in sight, T-Mobile continues to upgrade its existing network with commendable regularity. Today the carrier announced that 11 new cities will be getting the doubled speed standard that others have been enjoying for some time: Bend, Medford and Corvallis, Oregon, Benton Harbor, Michigan, Bloomington, Champaign–Urbana and Springfield, Illinois, Columbus, Georgia, Hagerstown, Maryland, Montgomery, Alabama and Yuba City, California.
