Smart Launcher Face-off – Battle of the Brains

Android has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to app launchers, but there is a certain breed of them that deserves special mention. These are the so called smart or contextual launchers and today we'll be giving you the rundown on a few of them.

Verizon HTC One (M8) initial hands-on

We now have a Verizon HTC One (M8) in for review. The handset arrived earlier this morning, and while we obviously aren't going to post a full review after having the phone for only a few hours -- we did want to share some images and some first impression thoughts. Of course, we can also touch on some of the Verizon specifics that you'll find (should you decide to purchase this model). That said, read on for our first impressions of the Verizon HTC One (M8).

Cruising with Sailfish OS: a preview of possibilities

When Finnish company Jolla tried to fulfill its promise of bringing forth a smartphone unlike any other, it didn't exactly make a big splash. Nonetheless, it is still continuing to send ripples that are now reaching Android shores. Here we take a peek at what more adventurous users might soon see on their home screen or even on their device itself.

Timehop app hands-on: providing a daily trip back in time

Timehop, as a service, has been around for many years now. But given the app just recently arrived in the Play Store, it may be one that flew under the radar of many Android users. The premise here is simple, Timehop takes you back in time. The app is one that you'll only need to launch once per day, and it will show you what you were doing one, two, three and four years earlier.

HTC One (M8) Dot View case hands-on

Along with the phone itself, HTC also unveiled some accessories for the One (M8). We've seen a variety including a Car Kit, Battery Bar and BoomBass. Not to mention, there were a few case options being shown including the fairly standard Flip Case and the multicolored Double Dip case. Perhaps the most interesting of the bunch is this last though, the HTC Dot View case.

HTC One (M8): hands-on and first-impressions

The HTC One (M8) has been officially unveiled. This means the rumors and leaks will be coming to an end. But perhaps more important here -- it means we are finally going to be able to put the handset to the test. We are curious to see how it stands up in comparison to the previous year HTC One. And we are also curious to see how well it stands up against the other recently announced flagship -- the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Acer Android AIO TA272HUL: hands-on and first-impressions

Acer originally unveiled the TA272HUL Android All-in-One back in January. The announcement arrived during CES. More to the point for today -- Acer recently provided us with a unit for review. We have to admit that having Android (in this case 4.2 Jelly Bean with the Play Store) running on a 27-inch display seems a bit crazy. We'll likely have more to say as we get deeper into the review, but for now we wanted to share some images and some first impression style thoughts.
