EVO 4G Is The Best Selling Phone in Sprint’s History

This is no surprise, the EVO had the biggest opening day of any phone that has ever been offered by Sprint. There has been reports of this handset selling out everywhere from Sprint store’s, Radio Shack’s and even a few Best Buy locations. The EVO out sold both of the previous record holders, the Palm Pre and the Samsung Instinct.

Froyo on the Motorola Droid?

Pictures emerged a short while ago of Froyo runni98ng on the Motorola droid. We already received confirmation from Motorola that the Droid would indeed receive the update to Android 2.2 but none of thought it would come this soon. Ok, this is by no means an official update running on this Droid, in fact it may not be Froyo at all.

HTC EVO 4G rooted [Video]

HTC's EVO 4G smartphone has been rooted - before the handset is even in Sprint stores.  A couple of keen Android developers - one of whom was given an EVO 4G as part of Google IO last week - have put their heads together and cracked open the WiMAX handset in record time.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 rooted

Good news if you're a Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 owner today, with word coming out of xda-developers that the Android handset has finally been rooted.  It's not an ideal solution, at least not yet - it requires SETool, a flashing system that runs on dedicated hardware - but the guys there are hoping that it's the first step in delivering a software-based system. As for what you can achieve with your rooted X10, there are already custom ROMs being cooked up that delete Sony Ericsson's system-dominating social networking apps, that add extra access to the underlying Android OS, and more.  We'll be keeping an eye on things for a software-based root method. Android Update on the Touch Pro2 (Video)

The XDAndroid project, for Windows Mobile devices with (W)VGA displays, has progressed to a fully usable port of Android to a Touch Pro 2. Past ports haven't been as successful as this one, there were too many bugs and the build was not user friendly. That's now a thing of the past and maybe now all WinMo phones with a WVGA display will be able to load Android and use it like it was the native OS on the device.
