HERE update: building footprints, better Chicago transit info

Nokia's mapping app HERE continues to try and best the previously unbeatable Google Maps and this latest update will bring them even closer to that goal. Their blog post says the new features per continent is "too many to practically list," but two new special ones are worth talking about. HERE can now give you a more accurate footprint of buildings in areas in several countries, while the Chicago transit system is getting a more visually accurate feature.

The Garmin Viago app is available from today, priced from $0.99 and touted as being one that allows you to "navigate with features you won't find in free apps."

Google Maps 7.5 update brings Gmail integration

Google has recently begun rolling out a new version of Maps. This one bumps the version from 7.4 to 7.5 and it looks like it has brought Gmail integration. While Google has yet to offer a full changelog for this update, reports are beginning to surface. Regardless of the location of those discussions though, it seems the issues are similar for many users. Basically, the GPS will be working and tracking as expected and then suddenly stop.
