CyanogenMod delivers Google Voice messages to stock message app

If you happen to be a Google Voice user and running CyanogenMod there is now a way to have all your messages delivered through the stock messaging app. Or for that matter, have those Google Voice text messages delivered to the third party messaging app of your choice. This method has been detailed by Koushik Dutta of ClockworkMod fame and doesn't appear to be all that difficult to setup.

Hangouts set to be the future of Google Voice

When Google announced their new Hangouts service at the Google I/O dev conference last week, their new unified cross platform messaging and video service, the first thought we had was in regards to Google Voice. Would Voice be going the way of Google Reader, or did they have something else planned. Today we're learning that Google Hangouts was designed to be the future of Voice.

Google Voice app updated with improved SMS delivery

Saying that the popular app Google Voice is neglected would be a little bit of an understatement. And while it doesn't have nearly as many users as most of Google's apps, we'd love to see it get a bit more attention. Yesterday evening however, a rare thing happened and Google updated their Voice app. Not much has changed but read on for more details.

Google extends free Gmail calls through 2013

One of the more interesting features of Gmail, as many of you already know, it that it lets you make voice calls in addition to just sending off emails. Google allows free domestic calls within the US and Canada, which is a major bonus, but today it announced that the free calls won't be ending anytime soon. Google has revealed that it will extend free domestic calling for the US and Canada through 2013.

Google Voice Android 4.2 problems fixed in latest update

There aren't many people running Android 4.2 yet, but if you are, there's a pretty good chance you've encountered some issues with Google Voice. The app hasn't been functioning properly ever since Android 4.2 landed, but thankfully those frustrating days are over (at least until the next version of Android hits). Google pushed out an update for Google Voice today that fixes the app's compatibility issues with Android 4.2, and it's available on the Google Play Store now.

Google Now voice search heads to iPhone

Google's extremely impressive voice search feature, Google Now, that was revamped and released with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is headed to iOS - wait what? Yup, you read that title right. Obviously the entire amazing feature set and "cards" of Google Now won't be hitting the iPhone, but it comes close and is set to rival Siri on her own playing field.

Google Voice update integrates voicemail with phone app

If you're like most heavy Google Voice users, you keep your GV voicemail and standard carrier voicemail separate. This is great for managing different numbers, but it's a bit of a pain to wrangle all on the same phone. Android and Google Voice get a little closer today, as GV's voicemail service is available from the native Android phone/dialer app. The update treats voicemails like calls, so you'll see them in the same place that you usually see Google Voice incoming and outgoing calls in the dialer. Download the updated Google Voice app to apply the changes.
