Apple CEO Tim Cook issues apology for Apple Maps

The recent release of Apple's iOS 6 saw the company ditch Google Maps in favor of their own mapping solution in order to bring features like turn-by-turn navigation and 3D flyover to its users. The result didn't turn out so well, and the company has received a lot of backlash from its users. Apple CEO Tim Cook has addressed these issues and apologized today for all the problems.

Google Maps adds underwater locations to Street View

Apple Maps may be trying to drive people through buildings and down roads that haven't existed in years, but meanwhile, Google has been busy adding underwater locations to its own Maps offerings. Starting today, Google Maps users will be able to get a look at select underwater locations such as the Great Barrier Reef through Street View. How's that for a cool addition?

Google Maps live traffic alerts now support 130 new cities

Today Google has unleashed another huge update for Google Maps. While this update isn't on the app side that will need downloading, instead it is backend features that will enable their real-time live traffic status alerts and details to an additional 130 cities across the US. That is a huge update if you ask us, and they've even included Costa Rica, and Panama City too.

Google Maps adds real-time New York Subway alerts

Today Google has added another addition to their Maps service that should make all those New York readers plenty happy. If you've ever missed the subway or been late this should help you out. Google Maps has offered transit times and updates for months, but now you'll get real-time updates and alerts in New York City.
