For those that use Google Drive on the daily the Android team just announced a brand new update that I'm sure many will be happy to hear about. Full spreadsheet editing has arrived for Google Drive, and the folks from Google have detailed it all on their blog. You'll now be able to edit and tweak just about everything on the go with your Android smartphones and tablet. More details after the break.

Fresh off of the news yesterday that Google had acquired Meebo for their social services we've now just learned that today they've finalized another acquisition. Google has snatched up the popular QuickOffice suite. With Google Docs and Drive already running at full steam it appears that Google wants to expand their mobile and cloud office apps.

Some rumors have been floating around that Microsoft will be releasing their popular office suite for Android later this year. Most likely being called Microsoft Office Mobile. We reported on this earlier this month that it would possibly land around November but now some sources claim that to be the official time frame.

Google Drive app now in the Google Play Store
It's finally here: Google's Drive app is live in the Google Play Store and you can install it right now. As some had speculated, it replaces Google Docs entirely and integrates your current documents into Google Drive. Go to the Google Play Store on your Android phone, and if you've already got Google Docs installed it should replace the app entirely. Here's the official announcement, straight from Google itself.

News and leaks on Google Drive has reached a fever pitch, with most of the information pointing to 5 gigabytes of free storage and integration on Android and other Google services. Today Google's French arm posted a full press release for Google Drive, including all the juicy details. The post went down almost immediately, but a translated copy was posted by Google+ user Gerwin Sturm.

Bringing with it tons of changes such as real-time live collaboration for editing, an improved user interface, new layout tools and more. It keeps getting better and better with each update and this real-time update is a big one that many will be happy to see.

Google has just issued another update for their popular Google Docs for Android app. While many of Google's apps are awesome they seem to release a few that don't have that great of tablet support -- something that just doesn't make sense to us. Today they've updated Docs with not only offline support, but they've also improved the tablet look and experience.

Google Reader update brings ICS user interface and widgets, swipe navigation, more
We saw a few leaked screenshots of what was claimed to be an updated Google Reader application last night that turned out to be either fake, or a bit old. Today Google has officially pushed the brand new Google Reader v1.1.1 to the Android Market complete with a new user interface and widgets that resemble 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and plenty of other navigation and usage improvements. While the actual interface hasn't changed a lot, they have added swipe navigation and it works extremely well.

LibreOffice team working on a free Android version
If you're a Linux user, odds are you've already heard of LibreOffice, a fork of the popular open-source suite OpenOffice. The project has been gaining steam in the last year, and now the developers say they're targeting platforms other than desktops, namely Android, iOS and a web app. That's great news for anyone who isn't satisfied with the Google Docs app and doesn't want to shell out $15 or $20 for QuickOffice.
