OnePlus asking users to “smash the past”

After a seemingly never ending series of rumors, leaks and teasers; OnePlus officially unveiled the One last evening. The company offered a full set of specs as well as details on both pricing and market availability. The OnePlus One certainly looks like it can compete in terms of pricing and specs, but this leaves us wondering about the invite system.

Emails show Google helped Samsung pay for Apple trial

In the latest spat between Samsung and Apple, Google was tapped by their largest OEM to help out. Many believed that would involve testimony from various Googlers, but emails introduced in court today note that Google offered more than that. Via deposition, a Google attorney admitted they helped shoulder the financial burden as well as provide testimony.

Samsung Galaxy S5: Kids Mode

Kids Mode begins as a widget and ultimately ends up a way to child-proof your Galaxy S5. Samsung touts Kids Mode as offering "fun and safe content for children." It comes with a few preset options, and parents also have the ability to whitelist other apps. Perhaps key here -- this is all PIN protected, which means you don't have to worry about your important files being moved and/or deleted.

Verizon LG G Pad 8.3 LTE review

LG released the G Pad 8.3 in the US back in October of 2013. The initial release was a WiFi only model, and that was followed up by a Google Play edition. The GPe model was also WiFi only in terms of connectivity, however a cellular connected model has since come available through Verizon Wireless. We've been playing with a review unit for the past few weeks, and at risk of offering a spoiler in the beginning, we can say there hasn't been any disappointment.

Google Glass XE16.1 update arriving now [Update]

Kit Kat, the XE16 update, rolled out for Google Glass users back on April 15th. There was lots of promise and hope coming with the update. Google touted goodies such as increased battery life, however it also looks like plenty of users had issues as a result of updating. We are on the lookout for a changelog, but we did want to mention a new update is currently in the process of rolling out.

Google signs 407 megawatt wind energy deal

Google has announced a deal that will use clean wind energy to power their various data centers. MidAmerican Energy, based out of Iowa and owned in part by Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway, will provide 407 megawatts of wind power to Google.
