Garminfone Receives Android 2.1 Éclair

So you're hangin out in your entryway, waiting to go on that long trip to the big city, and BAM! There it is, your long lost Garminfone. And what's this? You remember a post over at AndroidCommunity that said there was some sort of tasty treat update on this device and you figure, hey, got it now, why not? Well you're in luck, because the set of instructions we've got right here, courtesy of T-Mobile board member BonnieP, lets you in on this lovely creamy update.

ASUS grab Garmin app exclusive on Android

ASUS has apparently secured exclusive rights to use Garmin's PND software on their Android handsets, promising Garmin branding on the devices themselves.  News of the deal follows confirmation that the Garmin-Asus partnership has been dissolved. As part of that move, ASUS will return to single-branding its devices, and Garmin will be free to distribute its software to other vendors.  The company apparently plans to release Garmin PND apps into Apple's App Store and the BlackBerry App World as free downloads.

Due to the recent launch of more powerful Android devices, the Garminfone may have fallen off the radar before it was even launched. T-Mobile is looking to big this device back into the forefront with this new commercial. If you’re a fan of Garmin GPS systems, this phone is capable of replacing it while you giving you the added bonus of being a phone.

All Phones At T-Mobile Will Be Free on June 19th?

We’ve been waiting and digging for more information on what will happen on the 19th. Most of us thought it would be the introduction of the Nexus One into stores or Android 2.2 for the Slide. Well, the promotion is indirectly Android related. The latest rumor has T-Mobile conducting a one day promotion where every phone in their inventory will be free.

T-Mobile has recently announced the arrival of the Garmifone powered by Android. This is the first Android device that will feature Garmin navigation. T-Mobile also has a contest on twitter where they will give out a few of these to the lucky winners.

T-Mobile Garminfone Coming June 2nd?

The only thing left now is confirmation from T-Mobile but this phone is pretty much a lock for a June 2nd release. If you’ve heard that date before it’s because the myTouch 3G Slide will be releasing on the same day. Engadget received this leaked screenshot of the Android powered Garmiphone. This screen not only outs the pricing for this handset but also the release date.

Garmin-Asus phone available in June for $199

Well, the price and date is set. The Garmin-Asus Android phone will release in June for $199 on T-Mobile. This price is only for new 2 year contracts with a qualifying rate plan. T-Mobile is also rumored to load it up with a few apps, I wonder what they could be.
