Android game developers: innovate, don’t emulate

I have a confession to make: I almost never use any of my Android devices for gaming. If I want to play video games, I either find a truck to jump-start my ancient desktop computer or turn on my even more ancient Dreamcast. The fact that I'm terrible at touchscreen controls (and I am) is only part of the problem: there just isn't enough innovation on the mobile platform for me to choose it over more traditional forms of gaming.

Men in Black III is set to be a popular movie this summer and along with it we can expect an awesome game for Android thanks to Gameloft and Sony. Gameloft yesterday released yet another teaser trailer for the highly anticipated follow up to one of their best games, and that would be N.O.V.A 3. The multiplayer gameplay trailer looks pretty awesome, but I almost thought I was watching an Xbox and Halo trailer for a minute. The game is stacking up to be pretty epic but check out the Warthog from the video below.

What you'll see below they claim is actual game footage and looks pretty awesome. I'm excited already.

Asphalt 6 updated with new cars and improved visuals

Who's ready for some more high speed action packed racing? The popular game Asphalt 6 has surprisingly been updated today in the Google Play Store from the folks at Gameloft. They produce some awesome games, but aren't too big on updates so I'm excited to see one of the best racing games on Android getting an update. The new Audi is awesome too.

Gameloft plans in-app purchases and social features for all 2012 games

Gameloft is one of few companies that qualifies as a top-tier game publisher in the Android realm, and it looks like they've got big plans for all of their upcoming games. Plans of a very specific nature: PocketGamer reports that Gameloft will be placing in-app purchases in every game it releases for the remainder of the year, on every platform, for both smartphones and tablets. The company made the announcement during its financial report, adding that all its upcoming games will also have social elements.
