Samsung YP-GB1 Galaxy Player sells 20,000 units in 10 Days
The Samsung Galaxy Player we have been following for a while has finally started selling. Not in numbers like the iPod or anything, but this is the first attempt by Samsung to bring a real rival to that market. I think its a great start. Pre-orders went live back in February, and now things are off to a good start for the Samsung Player.

Record Calls on your Galaxy S
Like we often talk about, the devs over at XDA Developers are hard at work like they always are. This time XDA member antsm has developed a modification of the Phone.apk that will allow users to record phone calls. This is still very much a work in progress like many things and will only get better with time. He is working on it for the Galaxy S but once it gets working better I'm sure it can be added to many other devices.

Galaxy S Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update Imminent
We've just received word from German Android site SmartDroid.de that they've got a friend sitting in at Samsung in Frankfurt who's heard a rather important update to the status of Galaxy S devices to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. They've heard, apparently straight from Samsung, that Gingerbread will be coming to Galaxy S in March. Will this just be in Germany, or will it be worldwide? We're guessing at least Germany and USA, though that'd be an odd combination.

Samsung Galaxy Indulge Promoted by Snoop Dogg and Warren G as they Roll with metroPCS
Oh my goodness gracious, how has this not come to fruition before? Of course there have been collaborations and promotions between smartphones and rappers before, but never in such an oddly cool way as this. The following is a project launched by metroPCS, Samsung Mobile, Snoop Dogg (or Snoop Dogggg as you're about to see,) Warren G, model Brittany Dailey, AND Ted Williams - the man with the Golden Voice. Recognize everyone from that list? Good. They're about to sell you a Samsung Galaxy Indulge, "the world's first commercially available 4G LTE Android smartphone."

US Cellular offers buy one get five deal on Android
U.S. Cellular has announced a family sized buy one, get up to five free, deal on Android handsets and messaging phones. Customers who sign up for a two year US Cellular agreement and purchase a Samsung Mesermize (aka Galaxy S) for $99.99 can get up to five LG Optimus U smartphones free or one Samsung Messager Touch for $29.99 and get up to five Samsung Profiles for free. To sweeten the deal (as if it wasn't sweet enough), US Cellular is also offering a $100 Smartphone activation credit for every new line. There's even more benefit if customers add either their Primary Plus Plan or Belief Plan which offers phone upgrades after 18 months.
“These amazing deals are great for customers who want devices to fit their family’s wide variety of needs and lifestyles,” said Alan D. Ferber, executive vice president of operations for U.S. Cellular. “Busy parents will love how the cutting-edge Android-powered smartphones help them stay productive, and kids can stay entertained and connected with friends on the go. Many of our customers prefer texting over talking, so we also wanted to delight them with great deals on our messaging phones.”
