Verizon Galaxy “Nexus” is now four updates behind

In case you all haven't noticed, over the past 24 hours Google has just issued the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for a wide array of Nexus devices. In fact every device since the Galaxy Nexus is getting updates as we speak. Well, all but one Galaxy Nexus. We wanted to drop in and remind everyone that we haven't forgot about the Samsung G-Nex over on Verizon Wireless, one that is now a full 4 updates behind.

Android 4.2.2 update now arriving on Nexus devices

We had seen a few reports of Android 4.2.2 back in January, and even word a few days back suggesting the update was coming this month. Well, it now appears as if Google has begun rolling out v4.2.2 to the masses. And by masses, we mean those with a Nexus branded device. So far we have seen reports of users getting the update on the Nexus 7 and 10 tablets as well as the Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus smartphones.

Ubuntu for smartphones coming in October with developer access in February

We spent a bit of hands-on time with Ubuntu for smartphones during CES. If you remember back, this is the mobile version of Ubuntu and it has been demonstrated running on the Galaxy Nexus. It looks like a bit of good news has arrived though, talk of availability. Except, as we often see with smartphone releases, this one is looking like it will initially only be available in limited markets.

Apple loses in effort to overturn Galaxy Nexus sales ban

We heard a bit about the fight regarding the Galaxy Nexus sales back in January. Of course, that was just one point in the fight between Apple and Samsung. And if you remember back to last October, Samsung had claimed a small victory when the US Court of Appeals overturned the preliminary injunction that banned Galaxy Nexus sales. Anyway, as one may have guessed, Apple followed that decision with a request to reconsider.

Say goodbye to the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus

With no help from Verizon Wireless it looks like one of the most promising and exciting smartphones from last year has reached the end of its life. We're talking about the 4G LTE powered Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. Being the first "Nexus" (and I say that gently) to be available with 4G LTE and the nations largest carrier, it was a big deal. Sadly it wasn't a big deal to Verizon and recently it took its last breath.

Samsung fights to keep Apple from overturning the Galaxy Nexus sales ban

Samsung claimed a small victory back in October when the US Court of Appeals overturned the preliminary injunction that banned Galaxy Nexus smartphone sales. And while some may argue that the importance of the Galaxy Nexus is not the same as it was back in October -- remember, it may not be about the amount of sales at this point, but what not attempting to stop the sales may mean for the trial. Regardless though, it looks like Apple is now trying to have that ruling overturned.

White Galaxy Nexus appears on Verizon site

We've been hearing tips and rumors suggesting the folks from Verizon and Samsung were going to release a white version of the Galaxy Nexus, but nothing ever arrived. Now recently there's a new page right front and center on Verizon's own website showing off what clearly seems to be a white Galaxy Nexus. Interesting right?
