Android 2.2 overtakes Eclair as most common active version

Google has released its latest batch of Android platform stats, breaking down the OS versions of devices accessing the Android Market within the two weeks ending December 1 2010. According to the figures, Android 2.2 is now present on 43.4-percent of active devices, with Android 2.1 trailing at 39.6-percent. Well it seems the same is true with purchasing devices, waiting (in some cases) is best. Within the coming weeks, Dell.com will begin selling unlocked Streaks in the US with Froyo preinstalled. Current users of the Streak are getting their hands on the new software right now, but only if they own the unlocked version of the tablet. Currently there is no word on how much the US unlocked tablets will be, or which 3G bands they will be using. We should find out the final details of the product launch coming here in the next few weeks. [Via StreakSmart]

SlashGear Reviews myTouch 4G

Looks like our man in the field Vincent has his hands on the fabulous new T-Mobile myTouch 4G - a full touchscreen 1GHz CPU machine with twin cameras for video calls and photography and 5oz of nicely curved 3.8-inch TFT-LCD monitor-having goodness. A very crisp and hand-friendly device complete with T-Mobile's "Genius" key, optical trackpad, quality plastics and metal all around, 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 processor (the same that HTC used in the Desire HD,) and a chunky 768MB of RAM.
