Kobo Glo can now run Android

Arduous tinkerers have found a way to somewhat forcibly make the Kobo Glo e-reader run a full Android OS. While it does open up the device to a whole new world of possibilities, hardware limitations naturally prevent the 6-inch tablet from becoming more than what it is, even with Android's help.

PocketBook e-paper case for Samsung Galaxy S 4 hands-on

Device accessories including cases are fairly common to see these days. But every once in a while there is one that has a stand-out feature. In this instance that stand-out feature just so happens to be an e-ink display. The case is is from PocketBook and for the Samsung Galaxy S 4. Basically, what you have is a flip-style cover that when opened, has a 4.3-inch e-paper display.

Galaxy Note II and GALAXY S 4 e-ink cases unveiled by Gajah

E-ink isn't something you often see associated with smartphones. There have been some exceptions to that rule with a few notable mentions coming in as the dual-screen YotaPhone and the popSLATE case which is only available for the iPhone 5. Well, coming by way of Gajah International it looks like those with a Galaxy Note II or GALAXY S 4 may soon have an option available for purchase.

YotaPhone dual-screen smartphone hands-on

Late last year the Russian company Yota announced a rather intriguing new smartphone called the YotaPhone. As I'm sure many of you are aware, this Android 4.1 Jelly Bean handset sports two displays. The front being a 4.3-inch 720p LCD display, and the rear of the device enjoys a 4.3-inch E-ink screen. It's a neat concept and we were able to enjoy some time with a prototype unit earlier today and we came away rather impressed.

Dual-screen YotaPhone shown off in demo video

Yesterday we were introduced to the YotaPhone, a new dual-screen handset that has both an HD LCD display on the front and an e-ink display on the back. It's an intriguing phone that hails from Russia, and today we're getting our first look at the phone's big talking points in a new demo video from Mobile-Review. Anton Tarasenko, who serves as the head of product management and planning at Yota, takes us through the YotaPhone's notable features, including gesture controls.

YotaPhone specs include a 4.3-inch front and a 4.3-inch rear display

A short while back we saw an announcement for the popSLATE case, which some here may not have seen given it is an iPhone 5 case. In short, the popSLATE is a case that adds an e-ink display on the back. At the time it sounded like a unique idea and we only hoped to see something similar for Android. And well, while not exactly the same, the YotaPhone will offer a regular display on the front and an e-ink display on the back.

RadioShack soon selling Barnes and Noble Nook and Nook Color

Just when you thought you couldn't get a Nook at RadioShack, they come up and surprise you by carrying the Nook. They've also got the Nook Color, both of these device available very soon in most if not all of their thousands of locations across the USA and Mexico. What you need to know is that while Barnes & Noble continues to grow their eReader business, their competitors are either dying (Borders, just this past weekend, rest in peace), or re-ramping up so as to avoid the massive Nook pain. Do you own a Nook yet? Do you plan on picking one up in the near future?
