Samsung SCH-W899 Dual Screen gets FCC’d

Tear down images of the Samsung SCH-W899 Dual Screen clamshell handset have popped up and looking at the design, it's a rather interesting design choice. First the cool features, the "Sch" has two 3.3" Super AMOLED screens sitting in what looks like a back to back configuration. The primary screen is for palming the phone for smart computing. Then, when users want to make a phone call, they flip it up "old school" and the second screen comes to life. http://androidcommunity.com/wp-admin/tools.php

Kyocera Echo coming to Sprint April 17th

Sprint has announced that the dual touch screen Kyocera Echo will be launched on the Now Network on April 17th. Pre-orders will being March 26th with the Echo going for $199 with a two year contact. Current Sprint users will also be able to purchase the phone through their eligible upgrade option. Kyocera Echo FCC Listing [Dual-Screen Magic Machine of Oddness]

If you'll think back to a few weeks ago, we were hanging out in New York when suddenly there was a flash, and a flying man! He told us to go to a Sprint even that would feature him, David Blaine! So we went to this Sprint event and he did a bunch of magic including holding his breath for entirely too long, releasing fish from his mouth, and pouring some liquid inside liquid - why would he do such things, you might ask? He was promoting a magical new device, of course, the Kyocera Echo, a dual-screen Android device that's not a phone yet not quite a tablet. Today that device has passed the FCC, so it'll be out soon, we hope!

NEC LT-W Dual-Screen Android Tablet [Hands-On Demo]

In Barcelona at World Mobile Congress 2011, the Android was strong, man. So many people are interested in Android, in all its forms, that you never knew what you might find in the stands running on Google's mobile OS. One of the more interesting items we found (more in theory than in practice) was the following dual-screen Android tablet presented by NEC. Operating with several apps, widgets, so forth all aimed directly at schools, this NEC LT-W tablet made sure that our hope for future generations of students making full use of the technology of the day was completely renewed.

Another Dual Screen Android phone pops up … sort of

Murmurs were abound this week as Kyocera announced a dual-touchscreen phone that looked like a Nintendo DSi that makes phone calls. Now there may be another as Fujitsu looked poised to jump into the dual-touchscreen pool. Only, instead of a landscape style screen, they're doing for a portait vibe ... with "options." And it's very interesting.

Why Honeycomb will Work on Android Handsets as Well

Today there's some talk going around, some words being pushed that are re-stirring the sweet rumors that is Honeycomb supporting smartphones as well as tablets. Android 3.0 Honeycomb is a version of the OS created specifically to work well with larger devices, especially tablets. What's been discovered today is the fact that although Honeycomb will open in its default resolution of 1280x768 pixels in WXGA, changing the screen setting (in the emulator running the Honeycomb SDK released a couple days ago) to WVGA, a different shell user interface is launched, this one lacking basically everything on the homescreen with launcher crashing soon afterward.

Dual-Screen Android Tablet Sprint’s “Big Announcement” for February 7th?

Just last week Sprint sent out an email to the press inviting them to a special event where they will release an "Industry First." The internet went crazy with rumors as to exactly what this industry first could be. Was it a 4G iPhone? Probably not, all Android sites were invited to the event. Now we may have a little bit more information as to exactly what it could be - a dual-screen Android tablet.
