Simms Destroys Smartbench 2011 with Nexus S, Beats XOOM by almost 4x
Here's the thing with benchmarks - and I said I'd never talk about how they're inaccurate again, but here we are - they're inaccurate. The fact that they can be fiddled with and bugs, (like the one our own Simms22, aka the head of the Android Community forums just found below), might lead some to believe that they're useless. I say nay, and Simms22 says nay, us both on a united front of nayness like you've never heard before. That said, look at the destruction Simms22 has dug up with his magical Nexus S, the magic maker overclocked to heaven and back.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo Leaks
It looks like Sony Ericsson is ready to get rolling on their next suite of Android smartphones. If the phone pictured below is in fact the Xperia Duo then this very well may be the first SE phone with a dual-core processor as the name implies. This is the first we have seen of this ultra thin Sony Ericsson phone, that bezel sure looks thinner than recent offerings from SE. Could this be a new design approach?

LG Optimus 3D Officially Launched Today
We have heard plenty about it and knew it was coming for a while, but today LG has officially launched the LG Optimus 3D. Probably in an attempt to beat the HTC EVO 3D to market. Lucky for us we had the Optimus 3D sometime back in May and were able to do a full review and you can read all about that here.

Motorola Droid Bionic Benchmarked, Shows Gingerbread and Dual-core OMAP4 CPU
Could the Motorola Droid Bionic be the first phone to launch on Verizon with both a dual-core processor and blazing fast 4G LTE on board? From the look of things as of late that might be just what you will all be getting come launch. We originally saw the Bionic at CES 2011 and then closely following it were delay after delay. Recently some benchmarks were leaked showing the Bionic running the qHD screen that has recently been confirmed but also sporting a TI OMAP 4 series CPU and the PowerVR SGX540 GPU.

Motorola XT882 headed to China as Dual-Core, Dual-Sim, Dual-Mode Superphone
Lately we have seen a few devices that were headed to China and they weren't what I'd call up to par in the specs department, but this looks to bring that to a new level. Folks in China should be ready to rejoice with this new phone from Motorola. It is strikingly similar to the Motorola Atrix in terms of design and a few specs but the real treat is that dual-sim and dual-mode under the hood.

Atrix Devs Get Major Victory with 2nd-init Beta
The Motorola Atrix, the first dual-core phone to hit America, had a bootloader as locked down as they come. Developers have been hard at work for months now trying to find some way to get unleash the full power of the dual-core beast. It looks like we're on the edge of their first real victory. XDA member edgan has finished a beta port of the 2nd-init program which has been used on other devices to bypass the bootloader to allow custom ROMs. The program is being worked on now, and could result in some custom ROMs in the near future.

Texas Instruments Announces 1.8 GHz Dual Core Chip
Texas Instruments silicon has been a bit scarce in top tier Android devices in 2011. In fact almost all of the uber-phones of 2011 so far are running on either Qualcomm Snapdragons or Nvidia's Tegra 2. TI is looking to change that with the announcement of their latest OMAP ARM processor, the OMAP 4470. The dual core processor is said to launch in the first half of 2012.

T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Slide gets photographed by Mr. Blurrycam
We have been hearing about a device like this under the name the HTC DoubleShot lately and that was the code name for what we all believe is the MyTouch 4G Slide. My Blurrycam was lucky enough to find this device and snap a few photos for us all to enjoy. If you have not heard it will be just like its older brother but feature a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

ZiiLabs JAGUAR Android dual and quad-core Reference Platforms Unveiled
This isn't the first time we've heard of ZiiLabs, but it seems as though each time they show their head they seem to fade back into the background as swiftly as they re-appeared. This time they've got a hankering for Honeycomb and they've got what appears to be some lovely reference tablets for OEM and ODM to be using to bring their own Android tablets running Android 3.x with speed and grace. What these tablets are also made for is housing the brand new ZMS-40 and ZMS-20 processors. These are dual-core and a quad-core chipsets, both at 1.5 GHz.
