initially announced the new DROID lineup of smartphones late last month, they made sure to point out the devices would be arriving on August 20th. This release and ship date was mirrored by Verizon's webpage, but today it appears things aren't quite on track. It looks like another Verizon device (HTC One anyone) isn't arriving quite as soon as we expected.
red stripped DROID ULTRA leaked a short time before the Verizon announcement. The handset was showing a Limited Edition marking and while it was believed to be something intended for employees, we had yet to see anything in terms of a confirmation. Well, coming by way of a recent product listing -- we can now say for sure that the red-stripped DROID ULTRA is only for Verizon employees.
HTC One to arrive with Verizon as a DROID branded device, however it looks like that possibility has been completely ruled out. Beginning with the release of the DROID ULTRA, DROID MAXX and DROID MINI, all future DROID branded devices will be coming from Motorola. Simply put, Motorola has been signed on as the exclusive partner to release DROID branded devices.
Verizon has officially unveiled the latest DROID devices this morning. The new lineup includes the DROID ULTRA, DROID MAXX and DROID MINI and while we have seen details on the specs, the pricing and the availability -- there is also a bit of focus on the camera. Or more specifically, on features related to the camera.
Motorola and Verizon set to announce a slew of new devices tomorrow, today we're seeing our first actual image of the hardware out in the wild. While we've seen countless leaks of the upcoming DROID ULTRA, and even some press images, this is the first sighting in the wild. Complete with a red racing stripe and all, the ULTRA is what we're most looking forward to seeing tomorrow.
Verizon Wireless and Motorola, get excited, because we'll find out all of the details come next week. Today Verizon has just started issuing invitations for a press only event on July 23rd, where they'll showcase what's next from "one of their most popular family of devices" which will likely be the DROID lineup.
Motorola and their upcoming lineup of phones. We're halfway into June and they've released nothing new this year. However, things are about to change as the Moto X is coming soon, and the DROID ULTRA and MAXX for Verizon are coming too. The latest leaks even show August 8th is the official release date for the new line of DROIDS.
Motorola's upcoming DROID MAXX, but today we have something even better. An actual look at the hardware of the DROID ULTRA. Leaked over on XDA we're potentially looking at the Verizon-bound DROID ULTRA in white, and the phone shows no signs of Google's influence, to say the least.
