Motorola’s new DROID Turbo appears at GFX Bench

One of those things we love about smartphone manufacturers is when they need their egos stroked (or destroyed) in wanting to see how their new unlaunched, super-secret phones stack up against others – hence the need to use benchmarking software. It practically gives us a full look into the innards of their new phones, like this new Motorola DROID Turbo, which recently made an appearance at GFX Bench.

Possible new Motorola DROID seen in FCC, Verizon-bound

Fresh from the updraft of market love for its product launches at IFA 2014 – namely the Moto 360 and the new Moto X – a possible new Motorola device is headed towards US carrier Verizon, and could be a beast of a phone. The device was spotted in FCC documents with the code name “Quark” and from initial analysis of the docs could have wireless charging and turbo charging.

Motorola updates their Assist app and Active Notifications feature

Motorola is updating a few things today, with both the Assist app and their Active Display seeing tweaks. Both are features we use pretty regularly on our Moto devices, with Active Display being one of the most unique twists we’ve seen in a long time. Updating both brings needed tweaks, but nothing much in the way of “new” features.

DROID Zap update brings image send support to all Android devices

Motorola has updated the DROID Zap app, and this time those using the app will notice a new feature. Perhaps more important though, Motorola has opened things up and the app will now work with quite a few additional devices. Simply put, the app will no longer be limited to those with a Motorola DROID branding, though, some features will be device specific.

Android 4.4 rolling out to Verizon DROID users now

After a soak test, Verizon DROID owners are set to get Android 4.4 soon. The update is rolling out gradually, and affects all new DROID devices via Verizon. With that, you can expect your DROID Ultra, Maxx, and Mini to get KitKat soon, but don’t get overly excited. The update comes with a few catches.

DROID Ultra, Mini, Maxx soak test brings talk of Kit Kat

The specifics have yet to be revealed, however it does appear that Verizon and Motorola are getting ready to begin a soak test for the DROID lineup. This time around the update looks to be heading to the DROID Ultra, Mini and Maxx. And perhaps more important, it is believed to be the Android 4.4 Kit Kat update. What we have seen comes by way of an email from the Motorola Feedback Network and that bit about Kit Kat does involve a bit of speculation.
