Interviewing a DROID Charge Hunter from Start to Delivery

As you may know, if you've been following Verizon's DROID hub on twitter, on their DROID DOES site, or on basically every Android-centric blog on these internets, Verizon is running a contest where people are winning DROID Charge units. They've been running this contest for a few weeks now, straight through the days when we didn't know if the phone was dead before being released all the way to now, when you're able to run right in to a Target or a Verizon store and pick one up. We've got San Diego winner David Baldwin on the line here with all the juicy details of those uncertain days. How did he survive such terror of not knowing? We shall see.

Joyous day! Now that the DROID Charge is released officially, Verizon has released what's now one of their biggest set of ad efforts to date. This massively well produced commercial features suspicious looking folks running around left and right, converging in an underground laboratory / testing arena where two ultimate powers: DROID and 4G LTE will be combined to create the ultimate mega-power. Upon converging to the two, the DROID Charge is revealed, an I Am Robot force to be reckoned with.

Samsung Galaxy S II Built-in screen capture, no root required

For a while now most android phones could only capture what was on-screen using different tools, or applications and many required root access first. Apps like drocap, shootme, or Screenshot ER. Lately the outcry for this to be a stock feature has been answered by a few OEM's. First the LG Optimus and G2x got it, read about that here. Then we recently discovered it was also on the Droid Charge as well. We now can tell you the Samsung Galaxy S II also has a stock built-in screen capture feature.

DROID Charge at Target (but you can’t have it!) [FROM THE FORUMS]

As you may well know by now if you're one of the folks waiting for the DROID Charge to come out, you've got an indefinite time ahead of you before it's in your hands. On a nice trip to their local Target Superstore today one of our ravenous street team has sent us a few photos of what it looks like to cry and get so close, yet so very far away. At first glance it appears that Target does indeed have the DROID Charge in stock - in two places, mind you, but the truth is only about a foot away.

If anyone missed it last week the Samsung Droid Charge was delayed last week after Verizon's speedy 4G LTE Network went down. We are now seeing reports of some lucky users getting the Droid Charge a little early at places like Target. Run and check your local Target if you'd like.

Verizon launching the Droid X2, LG Revolution & HTC Trophy May 12th?

Summer is coming and it looks like Verizon plans to make it a big one as usual, with what seems to be an explosion of some Android powered goodness all at the same time. Can you say dual-core, err i mean 4G LTE. Verizon may be planning just that. It might not be the same day, but there is also talk of the Xperia play hitting two weeks later on May 26th. This sounds a bit like T-Mobiles April 20th launch of the G2x, G-Slate, and Sidekick 4G all on the same day. Maybe Verizon liked that idea.

Today's example is the DROID Charge, a phone that we've got on hand and have just reviewed fully a few days ago. DROID Charge Anomaly Tracked in Five Cities and Counting [Video]

If you've been following @DroidLanding on Twitter, you know that there's a contest going on where you are able to win a DROID Charge by tracking down a hidden marker in cities across the United States. What's been released tonight is several videos documenting the winners in five cities including my place of residence, Minneapolis Minnesota, the prize found in no less than the famous First Avenue Danceteria, downtown MPLS - usually there's a few hundred hipsters chopping it up on the floor - just Verizon during the day apparently!

Welcome to a phone that's set to go in direct competition with the HTC ThunderBolt. There's no getting around the fact that this phone is set to throw some punches as the second phone on the market to be running on Verizon's 4G LTE network for ultimate superfly data speeds, so we've just got to take a look! This phone has a 1.0Ghz single-core Hummingbird processor, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, and Samsung's TouchWiz 3.0 user interface lying over a Google certified Android 2.2 Froyo mobile OS. Is it enough to take a swipe at the market at $299.99 with a new two-year contract with Verizon, data+talk monthly bills starting at around $70 a month? We shall see!
