reported on the Wallee M modular case/mount system this week, I made an impassioned plea for more support, as the creators were running out of time to reach their Kickstarter goal. I'm glad to say that after a last-minute push, they've raise the $35,000 necessary and will begin shipping out Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4S magnetized cases and mounts in July. Hooray for quality Android accessories!
Pebble Smart Watch for an exception. But finally there's a worthy case we can get behind, because the creators have wisely decided to include both the Galaxy Necus and the Galaxy S II in their support. If you're looking for a unique and certifiably awesome dock for your desk or car, check out Wallee.
HTC Rhyme over on Big Red is set to receive an update soon according to the folks from Verizon. The documents have just been released detailing the upcoming update although it's not actually available yet. While this isn't Ice Cream Sandwich or anything major it does bring some improvements and new dock features.
Clove is already taking pre-orders. Happily they'll also accept pre-orders for a series of accessories, which Clove has been kind enough to show off for us. The add-ons should arrive with the phones in April. There's a mind-boggling assortmant of cases, docks and screen protectors already - take a gander below.
directly form Motorola's store you'll also get a free case and HD dock. As far as we know, neither the spill-proof coating or the freebie accessories are being offered for the DROID XYBOARDs, Verizon's 4G LTE version.
Tibow. He managed to create a rather nice looking LEGO dock that holds the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in a landscape orientation. The only thing missing when compared to other docks, is it doesn't initiate "dock mode" when plugged in.
Patently Apple (which really needs a new name, by the way, since Apple's "spirit of invention" has devolved into copying then suing absolutely everyone) found patent filings pointing towards trackpad gestures in future versions of Android. You can take this one of two ways: that Google intends the smartphone/tablet to work as a trackpad in docked mode (as it can now) or that these features are aimed at full laptops or desktops running Android.
Samsung.com is all set and has recently started shipping the desktop dock for the Galaxy Nexus. Looking at the compatibility list the Verizon model is clearly listed.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus launched we've been waiting for a few awesome accessories from Google and Samsung. We saw a great desktop dock in Hong Kong during the official Nexus unveil, and an impressive car dock that I'd love to buy but sadly none are available. Popular online shop Clove UK has recently updated their blog stating that accessories have been delayed. They aren't the only ones pushing back dates either but we do have some good news after the break.
Motorola's various Lapdocks haven't amounted to much. The principle's is sound, but if you're going to carry around an accessory that's as big as a laptop, as heavy as a laptop, and almost as expensive as a laptop, why not just carry a real freaking laptop? Startup company QP Optoelectronics intends to change the equation, by giving you an 11" screen, full keyboard AND up to a 60" projector, all in a package about the size of a few magazines. They're calling their flagship product the LightPad.
