Things are moving slowly in the monthly Android Distribution

Things seems to have slowed to almost a standstill in the Android world, at least as far as version adoption is concerned. After an initial growth burst for Android 5.0 Lollipop, things seem to be business as usual, with OEMs getting some of their devices up to date on the more recent Android versions. There are, however, some that seem unwilling to give up the ghost and to go silently into the 0.1 percent night of the Android Distribution chart, lingering around as long as they can.

Android distribution for January is still missing a Lollipop

Google has just released its monthly chart for Android coverage and most of it is what you'd expect, with older versions shrinking and latter ones getting stronger. What is somewhat surprising, though just a wee bit expected, is that Android 5.0 Lollipop is still missing from the picture, hinting at the rather slow adoption of the latest Android version, despite Google's more aggressive push in order to combat that notorious image fragmentation that has beset the platform.

Android distribution: KitKat now over 20%

As a monthly 7-day data collection on Android platform distribution statistic, Google has published the August number – with Android KitKat 4.4 passes 20 percent, now at 20.9 percent. The gain in Android KitKat version is not because of the older Froyo or Gingerbread, but from the reduction of Jelly Bean and Ice Cream Sandwich version.

Android usage: more than a third of users are stuck in 2011

It seems fair to say that many Android users want to be running Kit Kat. But the truth of the matter here, not all that many are actually getting that wish. In fact, according to the latest Android 'platform versions' report released by Google -- only 2.5 percent of users are on Kit Kat. Furthermore, even though Kit Kat has been available for roughly four months, it remains at such a little percentage that Google has yet to split the percentages between 4.4 and 4.4.2.

Android distribution chart drops Donut and Eclair

Google has released the latest Android usage numbers. This latest is the September report which considers data from a 7-day period that ended on September 4. The usage has been detailed based on platform versions just as we have seen in previous months, however this latest report has arrived as the first without Donut and Eclair.
